Re: New! v1127 Public Beta Available

I have not checked in here lately. I'm impressed that people are still working on improving this old veteran. I have read the first few pages and last couple only. My question is how this update works with the "Seabee App"?

Many thanks to those who have kept this alive.

Re: Blocking the Straits of Johor and tips on assaulting Singapore

May I add several suggestions. Early bombardment via air is critical to keep supplies low and forts from construction. You must put a boot on Singapore's throat and interdict arrival of supplies. If you have done this you are 50% of way there...with patience. Additionally make sure that you have for...

Re: map incompatibility issues

I figured as much...evidently it plagued opponent last game and he never complained. Now, what is the best way to perform a separate installation with old style map without ruining what I have? If I succeed will we have to restart this new game?

If you haven't guessed I'm no computer genius!

map incompatibility issues

I just fired up a fresh game against old opponent. We are playing 002. I am Allied this time. I use the Seabee utility. On first turn I saw a hex incompatibility message. Now on 2nd turn I see that I'm unable to open Abadan base. My other game is a DBB and no apparent issues there. Any ideas?....I s...

<t> After '43 I try to use the IJN subs mainly for mine-laying. I find laying mines in newly captured or secondary bases where no mine-sweepers is effective. <br/> <br/> I agree with the comments on using Japanese minis in a defensive base-hosted role. I have hit a number of incoming bombardment TFs...

RE: Best way of directly surface attacking a fleet?

If you want to aggressively pursue and are close make sure you set your reaction switches for task force. This can be quite effective especially if you have an aggressive TF commander. On the other hand I have also seen TFs foolishly react into a disaster!

<t> I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, but for anybody's interest, when scrambling to cover the IJA garrisons in China I find it very useful to divide up many of the pindly little Sino/Japanese units. For being small in the first place many divide perfectly for small garri...

RE: Canadians

A corsair or Sea fury? I remember reading this in the Hero section of Imp. War Museum (Main) and I think it says Sea Fury there. It didn't matter much to Mrs. Gray or the IJN destroyer mind you. My recollection is that it was on the last day of war...or really close.

As I recall there was a Winnipeg VC in Hong Kong. There is a street in Winnipeg with 2-3 VCs if I'm not mistaken??....different conflicts mind you.

Anyone who sends Canadians to the Pacific is a fool....you would never get them off beach!!

What sort of mischief can you create in the Indian Ocean? Is Ceylon worth a poke? You would have 6 months free from USN backdoor intrusions.

<t> It's too bad Wasp not in the hit mix.....Lady Lex and Sara much tougher. Which Japanese CVs/CVLs are still in operation? Overall I think you can be very pleased with the result! Even if Lex and Sara get away your opponent will be down to very few active carriers for a few months.<br/> <br/> Chee...

<t> I don't know what is "inside or outside the code" but I can say that in 10 PBEMs over 10 years I now play exclusively the DBB scenarios, with the extended map, albeit with standard artwork. I have the extra plane and ship art but damned if I can remember which author it came from.<br/> <br/> Che...

RE: Proposal for New Players

For the Luddites amongst us this would be wonderful. In past I have spent hours fumbling with these problems, even with the kind help on tech forum. The Seabee utility was a god send. Up-gunning to better maps and art has always been hit and miss for me.

Cheers

<t> Exciting turns! You are having better submarine luck than me. Enterprise is likely gone. Maybe not the tougher Brit CV. I have always found the old Brit BBs to be fairly effective in a gun fight but torpedo magnets. That may be a function of their experience and their slow speed. You may have a ...
