Looking for a Drang Nach Osten German Player

I haven't played TOAW III in several years. I have been playing WItP for about six years and have finally burnt out on that game. I think I would be a historically accurate Soviet player in Drang Nach Osten as I would be relearning the game.

RE: Building Japanese Aircraft

What is "Total Buildout"? I haven't heard of this concept. BTW - even when I tell my aircraft and weapons factories to stop producing, they still produce Zeros. I shut down all production to see if it was a heavy industry point issue.

Building Japanese Aircraft

<t> I am the Japanese in 2/43. For some reason I cannot produce any Tony or Tojo aircraft in the new year (1943). Zero variants are going great guns with no problem producing. I have turned off all aircraft production with the exception of Tony/Tojo and still no improvement. Any ideas or insights?</t>

RE: new home for Manilla Subs

<t> I use them to evacuate as much of the US air base units in the PI as I can. They can haul units to Cebu where PBYs fly them farther S. I eventually haul everything to Darwin and make sure to get a couple large supply convoys to Darwin so that units will rebuild. As units get shot up in the PI th...

RE: Rescued remnant Dutch Units

Turkey is right. Dutch engineers rebuild quickly. They are "cheap" to convert HQ and then rebuild quickly when they are near supply. I also try and get out the recon A/C. I leave the infantry regiments to die as they are too expensive and I would rather rescue American units from the PI.

RE: Playing Allies vs agressive IJN (human)

Does anyone else us US subs to evacuate US engineers from the PI? I can normally get a lot to OZ and they rebuild quickly once their parent is killed.

RE: Rescued remnant Dutch Units

<t> I try and pull as many Dutch engineers out as I can although priority is to US engineers in the PI. Most of the Dutch units are so small that they are a cheap buy. As the war progresses and I have rescued everything I can out of the PI, I start paying for Dutch units. Another thing to do is cons...

RE: Defending China

What tocaff said. Mass your forces on Chungking and try and keep Ledo functioning to fly in supply anywhere into China. The Japanese will have acute supply problems taking Chungking.

Did you ever find your opponent? Would love to give it a try but two games are keeping me busy.

RE: Opponent Wanted

Capt - I am game! I currently have two games going as the Japanese so need to be the Allies in this game. Can't commit to a turn a day but am good for 4 - 5 a week. What in house rules do you propose?

Excellent all around. You and your opponent are to be commended. I doubt more than 2 - 4 people finish a whole game/year.

RE: Changing base HQ

<t> Historically SW Pacific covered the war in PM/Buna and South Pacific based in Noumea covered the war in the Solomons. I move SW HQ N. to Townsville or so and get South Pacific to Noumea. Your concerns about defending Noumea are valid. I struggle with the decision to reinforce PM with every free ...

RE: Looking for relatively new allied player

<t> Ground forces are so expensive for PP that I don't see this as a problem. A good player can make the Chinese very tough for the Japanese so I don't see many Japanese from the China garrison making it to India or anywhere else very early. Perhaps in '43 the Japanese can start pulling them out to ...

RE: Arriving UK divisions

<t> UK Divisions need to stay back and defend Karachi/Ahmadabad. If you don't have a HR that constrains the Japanese with garrison requirements in PI, DEI/SRA, or Malaya, they can show up in India with the bulk of the Japanese Army and it is game over in '42. Evacuate as many cadres from Malaya usin...

RE: Routine

Hey Tocaff!

How about a couple screen shots? I am losing track of where this fight is going. I would like to see where you are bombing Truk and Tavoy from and wondering why you haven't taken Buna/Gilli Gilli by now.

RE: Looking for relatively new allied player

<t> I find that is it relatively easy to evacuate a lot of Dutch airfield engineer units and give the Allies a bump on aircraft capacity in Oz that is nowhere near historical. Pinning the Dutch in place is politically historical and does not give the Allies an unusual advantage. I have pulled numero...

Looking for relatively new allied player

<t> Looking for an allied player that sees getting beat up for a year as a great opportunity to learn the game. We can talk scenario start date/conditions if you are interested. Some proposed house rules:<br/> <br/> Japanese garrison - Japan must maintain two divisions in the PI, one division in Mal...
