What is this?
This is a leaderboard of all the players of this game who have joined a Ranked challenge or tournament. It is live data and refreshes regularly as players complete Ranked games.
What does Rating mean?
The rating is a number that represents the relative skill level of each player. It is calculated with an algorithm that is based on the Elo rating system. Whenever players play Ranked challenges or take part in Ranked tournaments their results will lead to a change in their relative ratings.
It goes up when you win games and down when you lose. Winning games against better players will increase the rating more whilst losing games against them will decrease it less. And vice versa for lower ranked opponents.
How else is Rating used?
At present your Rating is only used for this leaderboard. In the future some games may use your Rating to assist with multiplayer match-making and tournament draws.
Why can I not see myself on the Leaderboard?
If you want to be able to find yourself easily on the leaderboard you should also have a Slitherine account, you can create one HERE.
To appear on the leaderboard, you need to start a Ranked challenge in the game that this leaderboard is for. This can either be by starting a Ranked challenge with another user from within the game or by being part of a Ranked Tournament.
What info is used?
We only use data that you have registered with your Slitherine account OR publicly available data from other services (such as your Display Name).
Can I opt out of this list?
You can hide your Slitherine Multiplayer Profile from your MP Profile page HERE.
As ratings are relative and needed to provide context for other users, you are not able to remove yourself from a leaderboard after you have started a Ranked game.
Ranked Tournaments and Challenges are indicated as such both on the tournament sign-up screen and in-game.
Unranked challenges, tournaments and matchmaking do not use the Rating system.
How long will this leaderboard last?
Leaderboards may be cleared or altered at different times by different games. Some will be a lifetime record of play for a game, while others will be seasonal.
