Allied Impulse #3

Continuing from the Naval Phase...

No Strategic Bombing of GS occurs.

No rail moves occur. Russia moves forward, especially in the north. The US and France move units in Freed France, and the USA takes over some land in Italy. Patton lands in France, and an INF lands in Italy for the USA. A French ARM lands in France.

Russia announces 2 attacks against the Axis. In Rumania, a Rum CAV is a target. In the North, Vilna is announced. Both attacks are automatic wins.

In Rumania, the attackers move forward into the hex after a blitz. An assault on Vilna is likewise automatic.

Russia rebase an LND and FTRs forward. The USA rebases forward in France, Italy and the Pacific as well as moving a long-range LND from Greenland to England.

Nimitz reorganizes a FTR in Port Vila.

Axis Impulse #5

Germany and Italy take lands while Japan takes a combined.

Japan moves 3 FTR into the 4 box in the Coral Sea. Later, 2 CVs join them as well as 6 CP to fix the convoy that was hit by American SUBs.

In the Coral Sea, the Japanese find with 4 surprise. Japan uses it to choose a naval combat. 3 American BBs are damaged, as is a CA. The Allies abandon the sea area after. 3 Japanese likewise have 3 damaged BBs and a CA.

There are no more naval activations that are successful.

Japan rails an INF to Changsha. A Yugoslav CAV is railed to Vichy. An Italian MIL in Poland is railed to Genoa. Germany moves units around in all theatres, trying to defend. Japan moves a couple of units in the north and shifts an INF to Mandalay.

Germany rebases some A/C along the Russian Front. Japan repositions a LND to the north of China.

Japan uses 4 AMPHs/TRSs to reorganize a couple of CLs in Truk.

Allied Impulse #7

Weather is again terrible with a 9 - Sn/St/R/St/R/R - although Snow in the Arctic may help the Soviets.

USA takes a Combined while all others take Land Actions.

USA does some minor naval moves.

There is no Strategic bombing. Russia GS against units NW of Kaunus, Lithuania and east of Cernauti in Rumania. Rumania sees Germany intercept. Russia loses a FTR, but the LND is cleared. The GS in the north flips 1 unit while the south sees failure.

No rail moves. The USA and France reposition in Free France. The CW moves about in France and forward in Italy. Russia moves units on its front with Germany hoping to do some winterized attacks. Several CW units debark into France.

Russia does a Paradrop east of Cernauti which is not intercepted. Russia declare 2 more attacks in addition, against Rommel in the Pripets and against Riga in Latvia. The CW declares on Rouen.

Germany adds an uninterceptable 2 factor Do17 to the combat near Cernauti.

For Riga, Germany calls an assault and the defender is destroyed with no negatives to Russia. Rommel in the Pripets is blitzed and destroyed with a breakthrough result for the Russians. In Rumania, the defenders are shattered and ENG dies with 50% disorganized. Finally, in Rouen, the German units are destroyed while the allies lose an ENG div and suffer 50% disorganized.

US rebases air forward in France and 1 in Italy as does the CW.

A HQ reorganizes a CV in Port Vila. Monty reorganizes a FTR and a MOT div near Rouen. Zhukov reorganizes 5 land units.

The turn does not end on a 4>2.

Nov/Dec 1944

Allies win initiative, no reroll.

Allied Impulse #1

Weather is Sn/St/R/F/R/F

Western Allies all take Naval actions while the Russians and Chinese take Lands.

There are no port attacks or naval air moves.

CW/France/USA move to cover convoys. As well, TRSs and Amphs carried loads hither and thither. Notably, the Queens carry a CW MAR to Adelaide. A USA TRS takes a CW ARM-MAR div and a CW MAR div to the Marianas while another loaded American CA carries a CW Div to the Marshalls sea area. 2 American CVs go to Brisbane from the West Coast and some CAs land at Port Vila. Sizable forces with loaded TRS/Amphs are in the North Sea and Bay of Biscay with plenty of cover. CPs are also distributed to properly fill factories for production that is anticipated from resources in France.

The US successfully activates its SUBs in the South China Sea and chooses a SUB attack with 4 of its 8 surprise points. The last 4 are to shift down the damage to Allied Subs. 2 American SUBs are aborted while 2 CP are destroyed and 3 aborted. The combat ends when the Allies fail to commit subs at the next round.

In the Bay of Bengal, the Allied CV force finds the Japanese with 4 surprise points. These are used to increase damage to the Japanese and result in the destruction of the CA there. The combat ends as no enemy ships remain.

The naval phase ends...

Allied Impulse #1 Con't

Continuing from the Naval Phase...

No strategic bombing is done.

Russia ground strikes an OOS ARM just inside the Polish border in the south, using an ART and an LND. China tries an ART strike NE of Nanbing. There are no interceptions. All GS fail.

Russia rails the Gorki MIL to a hex just west of Odessa. The USSR moves units into attack positions along the front.

A few attacks are declared against German units, taking advantage of the cold weather. Ground Support with considerable FTR escort is thrown into a hex 2 SW of Vilna. Germany elects to do no intercepts.

In Lithuania, an automatic attack against an isolated MECH div is carried out. In northern Poland, a blitz is chosen by Russia, and succeeds spectacularly, destroying the SS ARM there and gaining a breakthrough result. In Southern Poland, in the Pripet Marches, Germany declares an assault, but another great roll leads to its INF's destruction and the Attacker taking the hex without any issues. Finally, against Guderian in Rumania, a bad roll is done by Russia, losing 2 units (MOT div/MOT) while Germany loses an ART.

Russia rebases units forward in the north. The CW moves FTRs in Italy. The USA moves FTRs into Port Vila and Malakula Island in the New Hebrides.

Clarke and Nimitz reorganizes ships in Brisbane and Port Vila. Russia reorganizes an number of units, both north and south.

Axis Impulse #3

Japan and Italy take naval actions while Germany takes a Land.

Japan moves 2 FTRs to the 3 box in the Marianas sea zone.

Japan moves to confront the US forces in the Marianas. It otherwise, covers convoys and moves a small CV fleet into the Coral Sea 4 box. Italy moves its remaining navy into the 3 and 4 box in the West Med while also moving a BB from its capital in Albania to La Spezia avoiding interception along the way.

Italy activates in the West Med but is surprised by 5 points. Points are used both to increase and decrease columns. A French CL is aborted while an Italian CL is likewise aborted. A second round happens with no surprise points. The last 2 4-box escorts are aborted and the Italians also have their last 4-box unit aborted. The Italian abort the zone and no further fighting ensues.

The USA finds with surprise when the Japanese activate in the New Zealand Coast. With their 7 points they minimze enemy damage by a column and maximize it by 2. A US TRS is aborted while 1 Japanese SUB is damaged and the other aborts. In a second round, both sides find with 3 surprise for the Allies. The CW increases its column by 1 level. 2 Japanese SUBS are aborted. Combat in the area ends as no Japanese units remain.

The naval phase will continue...

Continued...

Japan activates in the Marianas, but the Allies gain surprise of 7... 4 are used to select a surface combat while 3 are to select a target. The USA loses a CA, has 1 damaged and 1 aborted while Japan has a CV sunk, a CL damaged and a BB aborted. Japan finds in a 2nd round with 2 surprise. Air combat sees the Japanese NAV aborted and an American CVP destroyed. In a 3rd round, the Allies once again achieve surprise (6 points). 4 are used to select a surface and 2 increase the naval combat of the Allies. A damaged American CL is sunk while a Japanese CL is destroyed while a BB/CV/CA are all aborted. In a 4th round, both sides find with no surprise... it is just Japanese A/C on the one side. A Japanese FTR is destroyed while the American CVP is aborted and the other Japanese FTR remains. There is not a 5th round as no one finds. (The last 2 rounds of combat, I neglected to take screen shots of.)

The Naval section ends with no other successful activations.

Germany rails 2 INF and a MIL to the front. Germany moves units to try and make a line against Russia and to back up the line in the West. Several ships are reorganized in Rabaul and Truk using TRS/AMPH.

Allied Impulse #5

Weather is SN/SN/R/F/R/F

All Allied powers take a Land except for the USA which takes a Combined Action.

The USA flies multiple FTRs (6 to be exact) into the 4-box of the Coral Sea.

A small CV fleet moves into the 4 box of the Coral Sea.

No naval combats are successfully activated.

Russia does an ART strike in Eastern Poland while the communist Chinese try one on Chenchow. The CW does a GS along the coast of France at Boulogne. France strikes SW of Paris. The Axis does not do any intercepts.

The East Poland strike disrupts 1 of the 2 defenders. On the Coast of France, 2 of 3 are negatively affected. The French disrupt 1 unit of 3. The Chinese fail, naturally.

France rails a HQ to the coast of Middle Congo from its capital, Brazzaville.

The CW repositions in all of France, Italy and Burma. Russia works its units all along the front with Germany, seeking winter attack possibilities. The USA creeps a few units forward in France.

The CW and USA invade Saipan from the Marianas. The CW invades Kwajalein.

Russia declares 4 attacks along its front with Germany. Communist China declares against a hex near Chengchow. The CW attacks Boulogne and into Burma. The USA attacks a hex SW of Paris.

Shore bombardment is maximized for Boulogne and for Saipan. HQ support is added by Gort in Burma, by Patton in France and by Mao in China.

Ground support is offered in abundance over Boulogne with overwhelming FTR cover as well as a sprinkling over the Burmese jungle. Some is added to the attack SW of Paris.

Germany adds GS to the hex near Paris, with escort. Likewise, some is added over a Russian hex in the north and another in the south. Japan adds some in northern China.

Air combats occur over a hex in East Prussia where a German LND is destroyed and the Russian is cleared. Over southern Poland, each side loses a FTR but both German bombers clear while the Russian LND is aborted. Near Paris, 1 German FTR is shot down, while 2 are cleared. For the Allies, 2 LND are aborted, but very many are cleared at the end when the Germans abort (23 factors to 5 for Germany).

Land attack processing to follow....

In East Prussia, the hex is taken with a breakthrough, defenders shattered but no losses otherwise. In northern Poland both German units are destroyed with a Russian breakthrough. In South Poland, the disorganized Axis units are retreated while half the attackers are likewise disrupted although no one loses a unit on either side. Finally, near Rumania a near automatic attack takes out a MIL without issue.

Finally, as for attacks in the Asian realm, in Kwajalein, and auto-attack is done. Saipan, likewise, is automatic. In Burma, the blitz fails for the CW and an Indian MECH and MIL are lost and all are disrupted. In Communist China, the Blitz takes the hex and 1/2 attackers disorganized with defender retreated and flipped.

Russia rebases 2 FTR and an LND forward. The USA moves an air out of Greenland to Iceland.

The CW reorganizes a couple of land units and a few FTRs. A FTR and an ART are reorganized by a Russian HQ-INF in the north.
