Armored Brigade Iconic Units Overview

Post by Daniele »

Armored Brigade has an incredible database of units and equipment. With over 500 ground units to choose, accurate realism and flexibility are guaranteed.

Today we would like to show you a glimpse of the amount of information the system takes into account, namely some unit’s specs.

We have taken one unit per faction, showing the relevant data of each one of them. They are not intended to be an a priori representative of their faction, but we think that they will be able to depict properly the developer’s sheer commitment in delivering the most accurate tactical wargame on the Cold War.

Armored Brigade will be available on November 15th.

Actually, there are almost 700 ground units, over 1200 formations and over 100 planes, although of course not of them are unique (for example T-72 or MiG-21 variations) and it is really hard to choose just a few! There are also some unique or rare units like SU-122-54, OT-55, ENTAC Jeep, FV432 with WOMBAT etc.

Are those penetration figures of the T80 correct?

Compared to the AT[G)W and M1 MBT the 100 rating seems very low, it actually seems to be low against all other penetration figures imgluding HMGs.

What’s happening here?
Placeholder I hope...

If you dont notice it M1 shows APFSDS ammo stats that is a dedicated antiMBT ammo (if target is not a MBT and lacks specific armor to defeat HEAT that kind of HEAT rounds are a best option for me HEAT is best to blow up BMPs and BTRs and not the APFXXX ammo types [;)]).

T-80B is showing HE ammo stats that is not an anti armor ammo, is used VS soft targets (infantry, trucks and with limited use VS very light armored targets like a BMRD or similar vehicles designed to only stop heavy machineguns VS stronger armor is more "pray to broke something in the enemy MBT or i am dead" ammo) even more i think 100mm pen for 125mm HE ammo in T-80B is to much, in a game like "Armored Warfare" the best T-80B HE round pen 40mm that is more logical.

Thanks for the correction, I missed the ordnance type option.
But now I am curious about its armor killing potential, specifically M1.

There were documented instances of 125mm HE shells penetrating T-55 side armor during Yugoslav wars. It is 80mm thick.

Nikolas, was that pen from the shell or the blast or a combo? Be interested in knowing the range of the shot too.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

Interesting... its a value that shows a very powerfull anti light armor use for HE rounds VS AFV/APC and all that vehicles over the very light armored recon vehicles or utility vehicles (Humbee, VBL and similar).

Its curious but VS 80mm of armor the antiarmor ammo from an autogun in 80s (25mm-30mm) cant pen it, you need enter in 90s with more modern ammo and bigger caliber guns (35mm-40mm).

This made HE rounds more valuable.

T-55A was hit from a 125mm HE shell (23kg; 850m/s) fired from M-84 tank at a range of 1700-1800m. Report states that HE shell didn't fuse at all (faulty or incorrectly installed) but it penetrated the side hull and killed three crew members in turret, driver barely survived.

100mm high-explosive shell with fuse on delay is usually quoted as 60mm penetration.

I should note HE penetration of auto-cannons (particularly on aircraft and SPAAGS) tend to be quite low compared to caliber potential because they are usually thin-walled shells optimized against lightly skinned aircraft.

Currently in-game HE shells are normally not enabled vs. vehicles (HESH/HEP are obvious exceptions) because AI is not smart enough to differentiate between light or heavy targets (particularity at range when target might be unknown) but Veitikka can explain better why it is more complex than it seems.

Thanks for the info... thats very effective VS armor for a "simple" HE shell.

Well, at least in game we are not going to see MBTs using HE VS armor.
