Revealing the weather layer

Post by mdsmall »

While trying to take a screen-shot of a game in progress, I accidentally pressed a wrong combination of keys and suddenly the weather layer from the Editor became visible. I had never seen this before, but it is very useful information to be able to study while playing the game. However, I could not replicate the effect after I reverted back to the game. What is the combination of keys which would reveal this?

Hi,

We don't actually have any keys or display option for the weather layer in game at all, are you sure it wasn't the supply map layer you may have displayed temporarily?

I swear I accidentally did the same thing a couple of years back...but not so sure now. 🤠 Anyways I'm old and still night owling so goddess knows there can be the 'black dog' effect haha.
It would be a cool feature to have the weather zones 'in game' for planning etc, though its possible to get a feel of the zones when looking at the overview zoom out map.

Hi Hubert,

No, I am certain it was the weather layer, as it used colour coded numerals all over the map. If I can replicate the effect again, I will let you know. Glad to hear I am not only person who has seen this "ghost in the machine"!

Yes yes I saw that too!
Man this was in 2021 when I stated prowling the forums and screen shooting map images (SC-WW1 questions naturally haha).

I sometimes use my Nividia GExperience recording software to screen capture a still image via a custom keybind, and sometimes just the MS key combo MSkey/Prntkey.

It was when I tried the latter and mis-stroked something that I had the weather map. The editor was not on in the background but the game was on the screen of course.

Anyways I always thought it was some kind of a short cut feature...maybe some kind of a secret squirrel backdoor thingy. 🖥️⌨️🐿️
