Task Forces constantly switching to retirement allowed on their own

Post by s96825 »

It seems like I am often finding TFs that go into retirement allowed on their own.

Like I send a TF somewhere and be sure to check remain on station, then a few days later I wonder where that TF is and I see that halfway on its journey it is 180 degrees returning to its home port.

I am seeing this many times.

Is there something I can do to stop this?

Lack of fuel is one reason.

Other than that, cannot say without screenshot.

You seem to have a lot of questions which is a good thing. A few things to help:

1) search the manual, although that is being updated as well.
2) search the forums using these threads for help:

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 3&t=375436
Note: including "Alfred" in the search will help find valuable information.
3) older thread and some of the information is dated:

4) write an AAR. You can ask the questions there, people may even give some unsolicited advice besides.

Remain on station orders work until some event happens with the TF in the hex - it could be spotting an enemy TF passing by or maybe even an enemy search plane spotting them. At any rate, when an event occurs the AI seems to let the TF commander decide what to do next and invariably they RTB.

this has really harmed me in the game (self-retirement) my favorite is when my PT boat flotillas decide to sail across thousands of miles of open water.

Check their home base, you probably have it set to a base too far away.
