Energyto fuel exchanger

Post by Chris21wen »

Playing Bacon mod.

I've installed one of these at a base but not sure it's working Other than installing it is there something else you need to do? Does it matter how far away it is from a sun? How can i tell if it's working other than watch a ship refuel. which they are not doing.

Oh man, let's see if I remember.

You need cargo bays to store fuel and I believe it creates the three gasses at the same rate (Caslon, Hydrogen, Helium but I could be wrong). Also I don't think ships recognize a base with one as a refuel point automatically so it's a manual affair. I've seen cargo ships pick up from them occasionally but there's so much gas in the game creating some isn't worth it to me. Putting one on a ship is much more useful to manually refuel ships, but by the time you research this warp tech and fuel tech usually is enough to get you where you're going unless it's across the Galaxy. This is all from memory so take it for what it's worth.

For some reason I thought they provided fuel on the fly and didn't need cargo bays although there are cargo bays. Yeh got the fuel recog thing although fleets in auto will always refuel from closest available location if there's fuel there.

I put one at bases located in systems were there are no refuelling sources close.
