SPWAW Terrain file fixes
I have made some minor adjustments / fixes to the terrain files in SPWAW over the years and thought I would share them here. If you wan't to use them you can unzip the files into your Steel Panthers World at War\SHP folder. Remember to backup the original files so you can go back to them if needed!
Here is a list of the fixes:
-Fixed green crops zoom levels "Ter04" (no more gaps showing in higher zoom levels).
-UPDATE: Added animated swamp terrain "TER05".
-Added some additional texture to snow hex graphics "Ter10" & "Ter11".
-Fixed shp headers in desert dune hill terrain "TER15".
-Frozen swamp fixed SHP headers "Ter16".
-Fixed winter field zoom levels and added more white color "Ter17".
-Adjusted desert terrain to blend better and also fixes beach graphics "TER20".
-Removed all the seam lines from water hexes "Ter22". (togeteher with changes to Ter20 these fix the shorelines)
-Adjusted the original SPWAW railroad graphics to look better (also fixed shp headers) "TER24".
-UPDATE: increased railroad size and further improved graphics "TER24".
-Better looking gravel / concrete graphics taken from Steel Panthers 1 "TER28".
-All fields now use the same SP3 style smaller scale graphics "TER33" & "TER56" updated.
-Rice paddies now have animated water "Ter35".
-Ochards added shadows to increase contrast "Ter38".
-Winter orchards fixed shp headers to remove seam lines "Ter39".
-Fixed plowed field by removing seams "Ter56".
-New polder field graphics "Ter66".
-Removed the bright hexes from the rough terrain "Ter76".
-UPDATE: added rough hilly terrain "Ter77". (for SPWAW 2016 compatibility)
The download is split into two parts:

RE: SPWAW Terrain file fixes
R2, this is awesome!!
Already Downloaded and installed them.
Very nice work.
Thanks very much for sharing.
R2, I've got a question for you.
The graphics portraying the Dirt Roads are awful. They are waaaaay out of scale IMHO. I was planning on trying to edit the *ter files - I think I got all the tools and read.me's and threads with the info - but when I took a quick peek of a map using WaWMap I noticed that the road graphics didn't show on the editor.
I know that the game draws the roads when the map is called up, I just sorta thought they would be on Freds editor.
So, I guess what I'd like to know is "does the game draw the roads from the available *ter files, or are they created another way using other graphics?"
I don't think so, but I ain't gonna start this if it won't work.
Heyt, thanks again for these graphics.
cheers

The road graphics are located in the same SHP files as the railroad graphics. (ter24z1.shp - ter24z4.shp)
The road graphics should show up in WAWMap. Are you using the latest version? If you click on the Help->About tab it should say: "WAW Map version 0.12" from November 2006.
Also actual edits to the graphics in the SHP files are done using SHPED and not WAWMap.
RE: SPWAW Terrain file fixes
I updated part 1 of the fixes with a further refinement of the railroad graphics in Ter24z1-z4 shp files. The railroad is now a couple of pixels wider and the zoom levels also look better. You can re-download part1 and unzip it to \SHP folder for the changes to take effect.
RE: SPWAW Terrain file fixes
As for the dirt road scale I think it is ok. In the screenshot the icon size is set to the smallest value in the preferences (UNIT ICON "3").
One could possibly increase the size of the paved road graphics but this might cause issues with existing maps.
In any case I think the scale of the roads is better in SPWAW than in the original SP games or the camo work shop versions.

RE: SPWAW Terrain file fixes
Two more small updates to the terrain files.
Included now is the animated swamp terrain and I also added "TER77" (rough hill terrain) for SPWAW 2016 mod compatibility.

Re: SPWAW Terrain file fixes
Here we go!. Lookin' after the fans of this game.
I dug through my files and found 'em!
Due to the rules in place at matrix, we can't upload/download *.zip files so I've changed the extension to *.txt.
Switch them back, unpack them and install. (maybe make copies before you overwrite)
cheers
