What anti virus do you use?

Post by SuluSea »

Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade on my antivirus for my PC. I've had Kaspersky for about 4 years but I'm ready to move on.

I'm looking for solid protection, not a resource hog at a decent cost. Any strong recommendations?

Thank you!

ESET is a low resource one, high end, but if you need high end stuff, it's the one i'd go for, for most users it's overkill and if using windows 10, the built in one is more than enough for most end users, but if your doing alot of stuff that need high end and go to places where most don't or maybe wouldn't go and need somewhat higher protection, very few will beat it, ESET that is.

I used to have Bitdefender but went back to W10 Security. I don't do silly stuff with my computer so (with fingers crossed) it's worked a treat so far. What I particularly like about it is how nonintrusive it is.

Consider getting a boot disc with a different OS, then restart the computer loading from the disc with that OS not able to see the hard drive, then check important stuff.

I used to do that with a Linux disc on a windows machine.

Kaspersky has been the best for me. Less resource intensive than NOD32 for my pc.

I prefer Avast. It's free and adequate.

But I tend to limit my activities.
Wargame, 05% of the time.
Play with Barbies 05% of the time.
Play with Legos 10% of the time.
Build models 20% of the time
Shopping 60% of the time.
Exlains why I buy em more than I play em.

Been using Avast Free for many years. I can't see any reason to pay for anti virus when goods free options exist

Same here! Been using Kapersky on my 5 computers and Laptops (pay for 5 licenses) since it launched somewhere around 1997 or 1998. Never ever had an issue using it.

AVG Free has worked for me past 10 years or so. Still in use in my Win7 & Win8 PCs. Didn't bother to install one on Win10 desktop because I have read its own antivirus is good enough.

Windows Defender on Win10 and MalwareBytes. That's all I need and it's free.
