Buying warships for ASW duties

Post by sillyflower »

I notice that warships (not escorts) can now be purchased as convoy escort specialists. Apologies if this is old news and just something I just failed to notice earlier because I've never wanted to build any warships. What is the point of this or the other naval specialisms? IMHO they would have to be pretty spectacular to make buying any warships acceptable value for money.

It was always possible but not useful in my opinion. The only unit would have been the CVs with that path, but not anymore due to the changes in subs mechanics.

Their role is to escort fleets against subs that would attack that fleet, but patrol groups with the warship path are usually good enough for protection against subs in fleet mode. Also, I had asked Alvaro and the patrol groups always give 1% when on a convoy lane, whatever their path is.

Grats, and thanks for making me slightly less ignorant, even tho' these days I usually forget more than I learn

I shall continue my policy of thinking that buying warships is a complete waste of PPs, even if they still have a useful role by the time they are launched.
