B-52 upgraded with LRASM... P-8A is (likely) next

LRASM Gets Funding for B-52 Integration – Could Find its Way to the P-8A Eventually
Image
Lockheed Martin, NAVAIR and the U.S. Air Force will start working on the integration of LRASM on the B-52 following a budget allocation in FY 2019. In addition, fit checks of LRASM aboard the P-8A Poseidon MPA were carried out about a year ago.
...
Contacted by Naval News, Capt. Will Hargreaves, LRASM program director at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), said “Integration of LRASM on the B-52 will include work by both services [ed. note U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force] in a manner similar to the highly successful B-1 integration program […] This is not a new program. Integration of existing weapons on new aircraft provides flexibility to our warfighter as they continue to pace the threat.”

Mine warfare in the news:

https://news.usni.org/2019/11/05/u-s-na ... mart-mines

And an interesting article on F/A-18 training and operations:

https://warontherocks.com/2019/11/impro ... -missions/

"Naval aviation should stop strike operations ashore in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan; increase missile-firing allowances; and specialize each FA-18 squadron for either the fighter or attack role."

This one might bring back memories from the 90's

Interesting analysis:

https://www.asiatimes.com/2019/11/artic ... e-emerges/

"And at the end of the day, there’s a big difference between an amphibious force that shows up wanting to be your friend, and one that demands your friendship – or else.

But the US and its key Asian partners had better get to work if they want to keep their friends “rightly influenced.”

It will also be good practice for the day the Chinese MEU/ARGs show up in the Caribbean and Latin America – as they will."

Russia to Develop ASW Variant of Project 22800 Corvette to Secure SSBN Deployments
Image
Project 22800 Karakurt-class corvettes will become the basis for the development of small antisubmarine warfare ships. They will reliably defend the Russian coast from adversary submarines. The small ships will make it difficult to track Russian nuclear ballistic missile submarines close to the naval bases where they are the most vulnerable, the Izvestia daily writes.

Another short delay for the Dutch Navy Walrus-class submarine replacement program
Image
The Dutch Secretary of State Barbara Visser still hopes to make a decision this year on the Walrus-class submarines replacement, she recently confirmed to the country’s House of Representatives.

According to Dutch media AD.nl which first published the information yesterday, the long awaited « B-Letter » will announce which company or companies will be allowed to participate in the definition phase. Some imprecise words that could mean a further delay in this 3.5 billion Euros program.

KONGSBERG awarded follow-on JSM contract with Japan
Image
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has entered into a follow-on contract with Japan to supply the JSM (Joint Strike Missile) for their fleet of F-35 fighter aircraft. The contract is valued 450 MNOK.

This latest announcement follows an initial contract signed earlier this year between Kongsberg and Japan to supply the initial deliveries of JSM.

The JSM is a 5th generation stealth air-to surface missile that can be carried internally in the F-35 thus ensuring the aircraft’s low-signature capabilities. The JSM has superior performance against well-defended sea- and land targets across long distances.

MMSC for Hellenic Navy: No, the cost is not € 2 billion, it is double the amount
Image
Since the first announcement of the US position through the so-called P&A (Price and Availability) which reportedly was priced at 2 billion euros for four vessels and follow on support (FOS), we had expressed serious reservations. In keeping with our public information ethics, the issue has been further explored in terms of the cost of those ships as we reiterate that in every respect, the price of 2 billion euros for the vessels, their weapons and their FOS is insanely low.

Senegal Orders 3 Offshore Patrol Vessels from French Shipyard Piriou
Image
The Ministry of Armed Forces of Senegal and French shipbuilder PIRIOU signed November 17 a procurement contract for three OPV 58 S for the Navy of Senegal. The vessels will be fitted with missile systems, a first for this African navy.

Length: 62.20 meters

Width: 9.50 meters

Draft: 2.90 meters

Speed: 21 knots

Range / Endurance: 25 days, 4,500 nautical miles @ 12 knots

Hull / Structure: Steel / Aluminum

Accommodations: 48 (24 crew + 24 mission personnel)

Stern ramp for two RHIBs

Based on the images, the OPV 58 S will be fitted with missile systems, a first for both the Senegalese Navy and the Piriou shipyard. The weapons suite of the OPV 58 S appears to consist of:

A 76mm main gun by Leonardo
4x anti-ship missiles placed forward (likely Marte by MBDA)
2x 12.7mm manned manchine guns on the bridge wings
2x 20mm remote weapon stations (Narwhal by Nexter) at the back of the bridge
A SIMBAD-RC surface to air system by MBDA (maybe in its SPIMM containerized variant).

Edit: Contacted by Naval News, MBDA confirmed that the missiles systems are SIMBAD-RC (not SPIMM) and Marte MK2/N. Naval Group will supply the combat management system (POLARIS).

Supposedly an inadvertent disclosure of the new AAM for the Su-57 Felon. No details provided of what the missile on the top shelf is.
Like a short R-77-1 aft which makes me a bit suspect, and the nose and thus sensor is obscured by the red cap?
K
I found this (Slovak) commentary about the mythical K30 dating from 2002!.
Its intriguing in that the description of the dynamic layout is much like the missile on the top shelf.

The Russian press recently reported that Vympel NPO is working hard on a new type of missile K-30, which is to compete with its predecessor, the world famous R-73 (AA-11 ARCHER). It is not customary for one company to develop two competing types. It is assumed that the K-30 could be introduced into the arms of the Russian Air Force as early as 2002. It is possible that the K-30 is referred to only as a designation for another improved version of the PLØS R-73. The K-30 is likely to be equipped with a specially developed exit nozzle with extreme deflection capability in combination with a gas dynamic control, which, compared to the R-73, gives the K-30 outstanding maneuverability, greater flexibility, reach and stability over a wide speed range. The swing-out nozzle control is so effective that engineers could have abandoned the front stabilization and steerable wings and only equipped it with small rear steerable wings. An interesting feature is the qualitatively new two-mode passive radar / imaging infrared guidance system. Missile K-30 will most likely be armed especially combat aircraft MiG-29, MiG-31, Su-27 and perhaps Su-35.

Since the theme of new russian AAMs has emerged, I'm taking the opportunity for asking here:

Has any image of the R-37 (AA-13 Arrow/Axehead?) being operationaly deployed, surfaced at all?

Or does it remains still a paper missile?

For my tuppence worth,
Not an operational aircraft that I've come across whilst looking specifically for AAM RUAF stuff, but the usual press releases hinting at it, and from memory manufacturers commenting on being funded to make them.
Being semi recessed carriage and being quite similar to the R-33 I think you could miss it in a distant photo though?
