[FIXED B530] Nixie - is it doing anything?

Post by hb921 »

When Nixie equipped ship is attacked with torpedo, and it detects incomming torpedo, in weapon allocation dialog Nixie is shown, but there is info it deploys automatically. When it cames to hit resolution message in log don't indicate any use of Nixie. So, is it working at all?

If you can post a save and log. There are tons of cases why things might or might not happen and seeing what you're seeing is the most efficient way to get to an answer. Unless you don't mind if we guess what happened[;)]

Here it is. As you can see Victor decoys are loged. Nixie is not.

I am also wondering about following sequence:

2014-05-21 20:19:55 - blue: Contact: GOBLIN #1 was observed attacking a friendly unit and is now considered as hostile!

2014-05-21 20:19:55 - red: New contact! Designated TORPEDO #2 - Detected by PLA-671RTM Victor III [Shchuka] [Sensors: Shark Gill [MGK-500 Skat-1]] at 331deg - Estimated 14NM

2014-05-21 20:19:58 - blue: New contact! Designated TORPEDO #2 - Detected by FFG 36 Underwood [Perry Class] [Sensors: AN/SQS-56] at 164deg - Estimated 14NM

Does first message at 20:19:55 mean torpedo launch was detected by sonar? Or it is an error? Torpedo itself was detected 3s later.

This two are also interesting:

2014-05-21 20:25:05 - blue: Weapon: Mk46 NEARTIP Mod 5 #5 overshot its target...

2014-05-21 20:27:12 - blue: Weapon: Mk46 NEARTIP Mod 5 #6 overshot its target...

On the map there was very large uncertainity are, so how does the know? If the know, are should change, I think?

Nixie is only effective against certain torpedo types. The 650mm torp in your example uses wake homing. Try swapping it for an acoustic homing torp like USET-80 and see if that helps [8D]

So I did. Still no trace of Nixie.

I am wondering about other thing - plane evading missile gets hell of the bonus. Both sub and ship detected torpedoes, and were evading (Underwood was ignoring all manual commands), but no trace of bonus in calculation. What point in evading, when it changes nothing? Hard to outrun torpedo launched from less than 2 miles.

Just a follow-up to the explanation... Does the crew of the ship know the type of the torpedo, because as far as I can tell most platforms fire off chaff or flares no matter what type of missile is attacking and we get one of those Probability of Seduction logs that says it is not effective, any reason we don't get those here for the nixie?
