Upgrading air units partially

Post by margeorg »

Hello,

another noob question:

Is there any way to upgrade an air unit with a different aircraft type when you´re not able to supply them with the full compliment of airframes? F.e. I have a permanently restricted unit (size 25) with 10 airframes in it, and I´d like to upgrade it with a different airframe where I have 12 of them available. The upgrade path is there, however, the upgrade option itself is greyed out.

I believe once you have enough supply that you can do this.

And you may need certain amount of airframes over unit size in pool too.

Well,

that exactly was my question [:D] . I want to upgrade even though I don´t have the number of airframes in pool to fill up that unit. I.e. I want to equip a unit of size 25 with 10 frames only. Is that possible?

If a perma restricted unit, no. I found it needs to be filled with all 25 if that is the size of the unit. Unlike non perma restricted units.

I havent any "work arounds" on that. So question is is those 10 airframes more valuble than the 25 u would have to replace them with.

Thanks Walloc,

this answers my question spot-on. I wanted to get out 10 E-Lightnings, and replace them with 12 Mohawks. So, no chance for this and I will have to wait for other old airframes to become available.

You are not alone Margeorg, a lot of us would love to be able to do just what you want. But I guess the developers thought it was a bit gamey to allow, as you do need to have some modern airframes available stateside to allow for advanced training. If we had the ability however almost all allied players would strip the country of all modern airframes and have all training done in P-26s or B-18s!!!! Hal
