[Release] Star Trek - Total Conversion v1.0

Version 1.0 is released.
Mod contains:
Federation ship & base pack for Human race.
New Race logo for Human Race.
New Troop logo for Human Race.
Shield effect from tm.asp?m=2432656
System names from tm.asp?m=2420305 (with thanks to pndrev)
Several new sound effects for torpedoes, warp, explosions and alarms.
New torpedo weapon GFX.
8 other Star Trek ships and 2 bases that replace the minor races ships and bases from DW.

Don't forget to activate the Star Trek Theme in Distant Worlds to get the Federation ships!


Extra sound pack:
By fulgaris: Star Trek Sound Pack

Next Version: Plans

- Replace the DW laser sounds with Star Trek Phaser/Pulse cannon sounds.
- Add several other ships. Possibly next major race.

Very nice! I don't normally use mods but I'll make an exception for this one.

Looks awesome.

Just one gripe, those shadows don't look right... I mean there is no actual shadowing in game so it seems out of place.

So when you say your doing a mod does that mean like your gonna make all the neat star trek races out their & their ships 2?

Small nitpick/question... Are the Space Ports canon?
Can't remember seeing them before. A "mushroom" base would, at least to my mind, feel more right

Look like great quality images! Couple of problems I have though;

Using the nx-01 enterprise as a cruiser doesn't seem right. Keep the ships in the same timeline or give a range of different timeline ships. ie Kirks Enterprise as a destroyer, Picards stargazer as a frigate etc.

I can see the engines are located at the ends of the warp nacelles. I think it would look best if the engines were placed at the location of the impulse engines (none at all would be best but I don't know if that's possible). Usually the impulse engines are located at the rear of the saucer section on most federation designs.

Hope I don't sound too critical. Really appreciate the time and effort that you modders put into these and this some great stuff.[:)]

I don't have a problem with the shadows, it gives the ships a nice sense of solidity.
Try putting some drop shadow under the  bases, it helps them feel like they are orbiting planets, increases the sense of depth.

The Large, Medium and small spaceports are from Star Trek: Enterprise - "The Expanse". Their just different views from the same station. The Gas and mining stations are from the Midas array. Resort base is a modified Jupiter station. I might change some of the stations to see if others fit the job better, but it looks nice ingame as is.

I could put them there and see how it looks in game, or I might release a modified version for the people who don't want the engine effect. It might look a bit plain in game though, I could try changing the engine effects to something else and see how that goes.

Version 1 will just be U.F.P. and Starfleet ships & bases, as it progresses I will add more races.

Yes that perfectly possible, I'm going to release this as a Customization Theme. So you'll have to copy the BSG ships into a race that hasnt been used yet for the Star Trek theme.

It was the Large, Medium and small spaceports I was thinking off. That their from Enterpise explains that. Haven't watched that so much. The rest of the spacestations look familiar.

If you prefer them, then np, it's your mod [8D]

I vote for the "engines located at the rear of the saucer section" too. The nacelles are only for warp. At least change color to blue if possible.

FYI: I just went to the web site and DL'd your Star Trek pack. Thank you for an excellent pack. Definitely first rate stuff. However, when I went to the website you are using to upload the stuff I got a scareware attack. I don't know if it was from the website or not. Has anyone else had this happen? [&:]
