Squad level wargames
Tell me what squad level computer wargames you know. If game has RPG elements (most of those does), I don't forbid it, but avoid the ones like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights. I know some myself:
UFO serie
X-COM serie
Jagged Alliance serie
Laser Squad (Nemesis)
Space Hulk
Space Crusade
Pathway to Glory (for N-Gage)

You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

All of the Combat Mission games (old series and new) are squad-level wargames.

Based on the examples squad level would be the entire size of the force. Individual units would be 1 man/woman.

I had alot of fun with this one, lots of fire fights with a plethora of weapons and realistic weapon attachments. Yes there was quest playing and money but it was based on tactics. Not too scripted either. Sequel is 7.62 if you speak Russian.
RE: Squad level wargames
John Tiller's Campaign series is squad based I believe.

Best out there at present is ALFA: Antiterror. Great gameplay and considerable 'realism' if you can adjust to what might be the worst camera controls in the history of gaming. And the usual disaster associated with low-budget Russian to English translations. There's a demo floating about, and you can buy the DD from Gamersgate.

Legion Arena is squad based RTS with RPG elements of equipping your troops and choosing the skills they gain as they level up.

AS far as boardgames go, the Squad Leader series' a hard one to beat. On the PC, Campaign Series and Combat Mission would fit the bill.

I have a few of the WWII titles, not too bad I play them every now and then

Hi Wodin,
I thought it was that's why I put "I believe".
Thanks,

Baldur's Gate sucks so much at the RPG level and is so obsessively focused on combat (especially BG2) that actually, it could be called a computer wargame[:'(].ORIGINAL: Matti Kuokkanen

People shouldn't ask themselves why schools get shoot up.
They should ask themselves why people who finish schools burned out due to mobbing aren't receiving high enough compensations to not seek vengeance.

Judging by Matti's examples, he wants something with each individual soldier represented X-Com style.
I'd like to add Silent Storm from Nival. While the late game gets a little sci-fi, it's a WW2 setting. The destructible environment and ragdoll physics are just plain fun as hell.
They used the same setup for their spy game, too.

RE: Squad level wargames
PC:
Soldiers at War - Was one of my faves, but doesn't run well on XP unfortunately.
Fallout
101 Airborne
Age of Rifles - Wasn't this squad level or is my memory failing in my old age?
People's Tactices - Was abstract enough to play at a squad level?
Tacops - I know there was no infantry, but units were individual, so perhaps this counts too?
Flashpoint Germany - Same comment as Tacops.
Board Game:
Never played ASL (too scary), but still have Ambush! and that's awesome to play.
