Barbarossa-scenario

Post by Dumnorix »

Hallo Fans of my mod CS meets PG3D
The biggest scenario Barbarossa Armygroup center is in our last workingphase.
I present now each week the units of the different fellow players to you. Here now first the group of tanks of 3 "Hoth" - easily of Martin Schmitz (Germany/27 years old).
Here are one of his tank corps:

Totally off the subject, but why do my graphics look so different from yours? I'm not talking about the units, but the terrain and the buttons along the bottom of the screen.
I'm trying to think, but nothing happens!

This is a mod utilizing the Panzer General series of graphics.

The mod functions at a 1km per hex with units being battalion sized instead of platoon sized as in the Campaign Series.

It follows the same idea as HPS Panzer Campaigns but with prettier graphics.

Hallo Jason
HPS is correct, only we do not have so many military-historical and cartographic errors.
This is perhaps understandable, if one considers, which is not to the surrounding field of John Tiller the necessary German and Russian military literature at the disposal and here surely linguistic hurdles would assist.
As now times learned historians and the sources are to stand us at the universities for the order. In addition I can work on Russian sources, since I was allowed to grow up in the GDR.

All unit-graphics are not from PGIIID (in USA = Panzergeneral II). they are all from me and from PAT (he lives in Beirut). The terrain was however only inspired by PGIIID !

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy JTCS immensly, in fact it's the only turn-based & hex grid game I play.

But the CS system just does not model warfare accurately enough at the platoon level to warrant such complaints about ultru-historical OOB's and maps. I mean really! It like putting mag wheels and headers on a 1975 Ford Pinto. I'll tell you right now I'm not going to play a 250 turn 'scenario' with CS's abstracted supply model no night turns. Am I missing something here?

IMO all this game really needs is a little more eye-candy; someone to put some time into modding the terrain and some of the fuzzier units. Then break out the beer and pretzels and have some fun.

Hallo Mr.Simovitch
...no night turns..
We have night turns in turn 1, 10, 11,20.21,30,31 etc.with all the nightfeatures from CS and Sunrise /sunset-turns in 2,9,12,19,22 etc with view 3 km.

My primary interest team consists of historians, military historians and archaeologists. All tried the original CS out and to find it operationally and strategically too boringly. We play the entire theaters in Multiplayerteams (Barbarossa with 6 peoples) and create naturally only 5-7 rounds in the week.

In addition we are all fans of the PG3D-Grafik. With the original CS terrain-grafic I feel not a plastic 3d world. We feel good in our enormous map world, which by the way possesses a higher precision than the original CS maps, substantially better. I have to play simply no desire scenarios, which produced with modern maps with very few details. In addition one must spend too much time in the Platoon level of the original on troop shifts. I play CS already since EF1 1998, but me our conversion is time rather 1000, because the play passport is higher wiel. It tries out, you the same will feel.

Thats right- The ideas and also the 3D diagram would be present before all in a horizontal component. Since matrix is however not interested, I do not know, how I am to finance that. I now already put over 3000 hours into this project. My map-making-team (7 workers) work 6 months on the barbarossa-map (size:1200 x 450 km). (they work with a special matrix with original polish and soviet maps 1:100000 in 1941 use also by the germans)

PS:In East Germany we do not know Ford Pintos - which is this - a special Canadian snow vehicle?

[>:]Seems to me that if you have already determined that MATRIX is truly uninterested in your great efforts, then MATRIX forums is hardly the place for you to be marketing your product.

Maybe you could find another outlet for your marketing efforts, say BLITZ or somewhere, and attempt to line up interested sponsors and investors who could reward your "seven man map team" for their work!

Many of us, like Simovitch, are quite happy with the MATRIX JTCS reincarnation of our beloved John Tiller Talonsoft games, and are absolutely delighted with Jason's tremendous efforts at making it an even better game!

Concerning your last posting, I wasn't aware that there was still an East Germany; perhaps you meant eastern Germany?[&:]

Hallo Dali
