Tutorial Question

Post by actrade »

Is there a way to pull up the tutorial instructions once inside the mission? Some of these have 6 pages or more of instructions and it's hard to memorize them all!

In the top right corner, click "Briefing."

Wow guys, I hate to rain on your parade, but these tutorials contain several errors in them, with "click" mentioned several times and not specifiying right/left (most people assume click means left click, but I have found areas where you MUST right click" even though you said click. Very confusing. Also, not being able to have the briefing up while taking actions is also an issue as I'm constantly opening/closing the briefing to read it and make changes. You will get skinned alive on steam if you don't improve your tutorial. I'm a pretty veteran gamer and don't get me wrong, I'll figure it out, but more casuals will kill you on steam with negative reviews. I beg you, please go over the tutorials again. Take someone in your office who has no idea and watch them follow the tutorial. If they struggle (as I did), others will to. Game looks great!

Yes I found the Tutorial text confusing at times as it is not clear what to do for clicking and not being able to read it in game was a pain. I took a pic on my phone so I could use it better. None of this is ideal...

It is really hard to do the tutorials as you can not open the briefings while you are giving orders. Why is this not a "normal" window? Or in the pdf manual. So many orders to give and you have to open, close, re-read, alter your waypoints, open the briefing again. This is painful.

Yes. I am a patient, experienced wargamer too and the “Sync” section of the Advanced Movement tutorial is agonising. The language makes it impossible to tell what kind of “click” is needed and it took me 40 min to get the whole sequence to work.

If you list the errors you found I can fix them.

Honestly, if I were you guys, I'd have a cousin or someone come in who knows nothing about the gamed play through the tutorials and watch them. If they struggle, which I think they will, that would be excellent feedback. I'm 59 and have hundreds of games on steam and dozens of Matrix/Sliterine games and I can tell you 100% that when you launch on steam, you will get eaten alive with poor reviews due to the tutorial and to a lesser degree, the UI, not being very intuitive. I want to see this game do well, so I'm giving you a friendly warning. Remember, I'm NOT your average customer as one, I've played AB1 along with a myriad of war games (I own all the combat mission/DLCs, CMO and several "hard" sims) and if I'm having difficulty, others will find it impossible. I'm not saying I couldn't make it through the tutorials as I did, but they were a chore and they shouldn't be. Good luck!
