Escort due to unpredictable behavior ended up out of fuel and at hostile base far away from empire or fuel sources.

Escort was on auto with mission to escort const on way to build research base at Talisen. Very soon after getting to Talisen Escort switches to refuel mission. Rather than head to nearest fuel source it chooses one at a hostile base, independant (??), which is not only away from home territory but also over 6 times the distance than nearest source.

The closest fuel source would be Horgilleon, which is where Const will head to for refuel after competing base.

Escort heads to Kurrubah 3 a hostile base much further away than closest source.

Choice of hostile out of range base means it will arrive under fire, out of fuel at distant base. It should have chosen closest base, easily in range, which const did at Horgilleon, or secondly home base also out of range. Either one of these would make sense as at least home base out of range would put it closer to supplies for next mission as well as not under attack and farther from home and completely out of fuel for very long trek back.

1.1.4.4 is doing a much better job of not sending ships cruising around on empty as previous patches did. Explorer ships no longer venturing out 4 to 6 time their range to explore new territory. Ships not heading to source that will not refuel and then just sit a wait to be ordered to a working base by player. Far fewer out of fuel ships to tend to. More ships available for duty.

However, sending a ship to the furthest base out of range for refueling which is also hostile rather than the non-hostile nearest base, by a factor of about 6 times, and away from home territory guaranties that ship will either be destroyed upon arriving out of fuel, no weaponry, or have several times longer to travel in order to make it back home. Mostly out of fuel which if it survives the enemy base will result in greatly increased time because it will be not only further from fuel than it started but also traveling at half speed.

Ships should head to nearest fuel source if friendly and available or nearest home base even if out of range, not deeper into hostile/unknown and unsupportable territory.
