Automated Troop Transports

Post by Schatten »

If you have some automated troop transports that pick up troops and move them to other planets as garrisons, they load the maximal possible amount of units (2,4,10 depending how much Troop compartment your ship has and your Tech) however they always drop only 1 or max 2 Troops (mostly 1) at the Planet and fly than back to load again 1-2 Troops and unload them again. The other troops stay in the transport.

Hey thanks for the report. Do you have a save that demonstrates the issue?

hmm not really but its not a single event, they do all time nothing different no mater the tech. So its *normal* behavior due to their AI i guess?

It's normal that not all troops can get dropped in a single wave. That depends on how many assault pods your transport has and usually they only have enough to drop 1-2 at a time.

You haven't made clear if this is for invasions or just moving them to other friendly worlds. If they are just moving them around your empire, they'll unload as many as needed to meet what they think is the required garrison for that world.

The behavior where they keep flying back to load more, if they still have more on board and then unload them again, sounds like a bug, but we would need a save that shows that. It's not possible to just duplicate the vast majority of these issues from a description alone.

no its not for Invasion. Its single Troop Transports at automatic. Its the same as the ones for Invasion Fleets so they have from start 2 to 4 assault pods. They pick up Troops from one own World and transport them to other.
The issue here is, they unload 1 Unit of lets say 10, than fly back to pick one Unit up and than fly back to drop another Unit at other World, *forgetting* the 9 that already loaded. You can see it wonderfull if you build a Robot Factory at one of your Worlds and than build here many Robot Units for the Transports to use them for Garrison.

Even worser, if you have multiple Transports they act all same only that shortly after the Unit is dropped a other Transport come and pick the Unit up to deliver it to another Planet. So a endless circle starts. Only way to avoid it is to set troop automation on every single planet off and make them manually Garrison.
That makes the whole Automation Idea usless.

I would strongly suggest that you can put a Number of Units (and Typ) a Planet has to have and as long there no more as set no automated Transport is allowed to pick anything up.

Sees for me as easiest way to fix it.

I will try to make a save in next days.
