Hi JustNick,

I'm sorry for the crashes, the issue in your crash logs is one of the key ones we've been working to understand and fix as our top priority. Unfortunately we can't duplicate it yet on our development systems, so I can't give an exact ETA for a fix. With each new update, you should try the game again to see if one of the fixes helps with your system.
Ok thanks .. today (22 03 22) for me new version (1.0.2.2) the game started without trouble !!

Re: START HERE: Latest Troubleshooting FAQ (1.0.2.6)

Post by Erik Rutins »

Updated the original post to 1.0.2.6. Please note this important advice:

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are still having any crash or launch issues with DW2, we recommend taking the following steps prior to playing with 1.0.2.6 or later to make sure corruption from previous crashes is not causing any ongoing issues:
1. Delete the gamesettings and gamestartsettings files in the /data/ sub-folder of your installation directory (In Steam right-click on the game in your library, then choose Properties -> Local Files -> Browse. On GOG you can find this through Manage Installation -> Show Folder)
2. Delete any old saved games in the /data/savedgames sub-folder of your installation directory.
3. Verify all installation files (in Steam right-click on the game in your library, then choose Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Files. On GOG it is Manage Installation -> Verify/Repair).
4. If you still experience issues, please check in on the tech support sub-forum at Matrix Games or Steam and follow the reporting procedures there to share your log files with us.

Re: START HERE: Latest Troubleshooting FAQ (1.0.3.0 Beta)

Post by Erik Rutins »

April 1st - Added the 1.0.3.0 beta update as an additional branch. We strongly recommend trying 1.0.3.0 _instead_ of 1.0.2.9 over the weekend, but we're keeping 1.0.2.9 as an available beta branch over the weekend just in case it works better for some.

Had a crash in 1.0.3.0 last night that now happens all the time in my current game it seems to be related to boarding troops onto one of my fleets. I have attached all the relevant files to this post. Loving the game.

Wasn't able to attach the save if you need it let me know this is a fairly late game.

Cancelled the boarding action and still getting a crash think this game is over time to start a new one :D

Rolled back to 1.0.2.9 and had the same issue.

Updated the original post to reflect the 1.0.3.1 beta update.

As a reminder, it would really help us if all issue reports were submitted here:

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 6&t=380457

If you make a forum post with an issue and files, please also report it to that form with a link to the forum post and please mention that you've reported it via the form. It will help a lot to make sure no issues are missed.

Re: START HERE: Latest Troubleshooting FAQ (1.0.3.3)

Post by Erik Rutins »

Unfortunately we introduced a critical economy bug in 1.0.3.1, hence we decided to release another official update quickly today which fixes that issue, as well adding some additional fixes and improvements.

The first post is now updated to reflect the changes in 1.0.3.3.

I've had the same issue, I've filed a report with each new version, and attach the SessionLog, but have never seen a crashdump file.

The devs really need to fix the game, I had to manually use windows event viewer to generate these logs, this is like a mechanic asking a client to open up their engine before they can start fixing the car, we are tying to be patient but what about those those who cant generate the logs like I did?

Hi, I dont know if this helps, but please try this, search for "event viewer" in the start menu, right click on error to save it

Thanks, I just saw the same idea from someone in another thread, and was able to find corresponding Event Viewer error logs (posting again here). NET Error 1026 if that helps. I just went in and tried updating my .NET Framework, but it says I have the most current version installed (4.8), so It didn't seem to do anything.
Justus2 wrote: Fri Apr 15, 2022 6:53 pm I have had the same issue for weeks, can't play more than 20 minutes without a CTD, and now Crashdump files. I hadn't thought to look at Event Viewer. However, when I did, I found two consecutive errors corresponding to each of the last three crash reports I filed - first a .NET Runtime error, listing DistantWorlds2 as the app, then immediately followed by an App error for DistantWorlds2. I have attached a zip file with all 6 Event Viewer error logs, as well as the DXDiag and SessionLog files that I submitted for each crash (going back the last three weeks, so one each with the last 3 beta versions). Hopefully this will narrow things down?
