Topup is getting annoying

Post by 100thMonkey »

Platform: Steam
Build version: v1.2.7.1 (Beta) + all DLCs (started with v1.2.6.7)
Severity: Low
Annoyance factor: High
Confusion for new players: High
Saved game:
The Culture - Ackdarian - 2782-08-10.7z
(5.39 MiB) Downloaded 1 time

The template assigned to 1st Fleet is “Small Attack Fleet”. Its content is as follow:

Small Attack Fleet.png
Small Attack Fleet.png (67.66 KiB) Viewed 141 times

This is the current content of 1st Fleet:

1st Fleet composition.png
1st Fleet composition.png (97.4 KiB) Viewed 141 times

It has 1 escort too many, and there’s 1 destroyer missing.

The extra escort is the result from a previous Topup I did. So it added a wrong ship to the fleet. First problem.

And now, even though there’s one destroyer missing, and I have the money and the resources to build one, the Topup button does nothing!

So it adds ships that it shouldn’t according to the template. And when it should add ships, it doesn’t!

Of course, I can micromanage to manually correct the situation. But isn’t the point of the Topup function exactly to help manage fleets and reduce micromanagement?

Please, fix this. It’s been a recurring problem (Topup not working as it should) for a long time, and I’ve posted many bug reports on it. And there are many more that I simply didn’t post.

Fleet templates are a great addition to DW2. And the Topup functionality would make them even better, even more useful... if it worked.

Try setting the option "Allow Position Reassignment" to "Ships retain current position in fleet"

As far as I understood that option, it would allow / disallow (as an example) frigates to take over the destroyer role, if no destroyer design is present. At least when fleets ship management is automatic.

Please correct me if I am wrong xD Didn't test it before writing this, but remember vaguely having a similar issue and this fixed it.

That IS how the fleet is set.

Well, I'm pretty sure (not 100% though) that the setting is about ship's positions in the fleet (core, close escort or picket), and have nothing to do with the ships being added or taken out of the fleet by the topup function.

If someone knows for sure that the "Allow Position Reassignement" tactical setting interact with the topup functionality, please let us know.

Is the top-up button greyed out or is it active, but doesn't do anything when you click it? Do you have enough money and resources to build the additional destroyer to match the template?
