upgrades to 4.6.279 fails

I have just upgraded my laptop to an I5 windows 8.1 machine. I have loaded BFTB but I cant get it to download the upgrade from the start screen. It downloads and tries to install then reports that the download has failed. can anyone help me, I have HTTR ready to go but not yet installed
