im new to the game and forum and was hoping someone could help me. when im in a fighter and i target an object in Padlock view or cockpit view, how do i untarget them? right now if i press T and target a friendly ship i am constantly looking at it and not where im flying, i literally strain my neck to look behind me as i fly passed it and so cant see a damn thing infront of me!

T = Target Ship in Reticule.
Shift+T = Target Missile(Combat Drone)
Y = Target Closest Ship
Shift+Y = Target Closest Missile
U = Target Hostile Ship
Shift+U = Target Hostile Missile

Well, you can always change your view back to the default forward view...you'd still be targeting the same ship, but no longer padlocked.  I don't know if you can "un-target".  Maybe changing your HUD back to NAV mode?
