need help getting it to play properly

my mouse pointer does not show...other than that, it seems to function ok...i tried to adjust it to windowed mode in the settings file but i was not permitted to save the changes and it also wouldn't allow me to alter my permissions. My account is set to run as administrator but i'm at a loss as to how to proceed from here...i'll be looking in here frequently, please, someone help me?
