Wargame Clubs
Wargame clubs offer opponents and ladders for people wishing to play multiplayer in a competitive manner.
I'll try to maintain a list of clubs with PCO sections.

RE: Promoting Panzer Command:Ostfront
First, we don't like to pick on other companies games here. Honest comparisons are OK. I have been following that thread and they have their reasons.
Second, I think some people are holding off buying PCO or playing MP until the first update is official.
The blitz forum is very empty. FGM shut theirs down. The CMBN forum at the blitz doesn't seem that busy either but more than PCO. gamesquad shut down all their ladders a while ago. I think maybe players of these style of games are not into ladders any more. I remember when BFC was working on CMSF and stated that the vast majority of 3D game players play single player. That could be true.
Be patient and wait for summer to be over with, school to start up again, and winter to hold people hostage in their homes, and you may see more interest in MP gaming.

Yo Junk, got any more war game clubs/clans to add? I was hoping to have a really active forum environment for PCO, much like the Combat Mission series has over at Battlefront.com. War sims especially need an ongoing exchange of information, be it good or bad, to keep these complex games alive and the community interested.
Perhaps a PCO Mod/AAR contest, or something similar, might be a good idea to pull in more forum contributors. A nifty prize could be a PCO coffee mug, or a Matrix Games T-shirt, or even credit towards a new game. Panzer Command: Ostfront, when you consider all the hard work (and $$$) that went into its creation, now needs some salesmanship to promote it. I recently added a large PCO promotion entry on my personal homepage with a hotkey printout sheet, video trailer, and 105 screenshots. I did this to promote the game and to help increase its user base, which in turn is good for my PCO gaming experience. Hell, I did all that and I'm still only playing the PCO demo because I just dropped $60 last month on CMBN. My point is that PCO is a great game and needs more support on the business side of the house.
LeadMeister,
thanks for the promo on your page. We think PCO is a good game. We hope it builds up a following so that we can continue to improve it.
Thanks

Thanks for the "Thanks" Rick, it's much appreciated. However, "junk2drive" does not share your feelings at all and has given me the impression, more than once, that I need to stay off this forum. I've deleted all my postings.
I think perhaps you've misinterpreted junk2drives comments.
Thanks

RE: Promoting Panzer Command:Ostfront
There is only one drawback that I have found with PCO and that is the inability to play the game via the internet other than by PBEM, at least I haven't heard any different. If I am wrong, please correct me.
When I first started playing the CM games, et al., I seemed to be downloading mods, scenarios, and campaigns more than I was playing the game. Of course, my poor old computer at that time couldn't handle some of the nicer skins but I downloaded them in the hope that I would have a computer in the future that could. Well, I got one (better computer) but I never saved all those mods, scenarios, and campaigns and most of them are long, long gone. Okay, that had nothing to do with this thread at all. Well maybe it did. When I was downloading all those new toys there were quite a bit guys playing the CM games. I was able to play a few but had to quite when the old computer quite.
PCO has lit that fire under my wargaming ass again. I do hope that more people will hear of this game and start playing it, patch or no patch. It is just too good a game not to promote it outside of the normal ways a game are promoted these days. I might even begin my own website for the game but I have to get the upgrades done to my current computer before I can do anything else, playing the game with anyone or doing another website.
Okay, I've rambled on enough. As I said, PCO is definitely a GREAT game. I tip my hat to those that designed the game and hope that I can be of some help with any future projects.
Take care all. Chris "Resinslinger"

Chris,
While it's true that PBM is the only way to play, if you are at all familiar with Dropbox (or other file sharing services), PCO can be played in the PBM mode but it looks and feels a lot like playing via tcp/ip. I think there is a video showing how this works on you tube:

junk2drive is probably the guy that knows the most about the PBM system (he prefers the term MP for multiplayer I think).
Thanks!
Rick

RE: Wargame Clubs
In the "War Gamers Club for Gentlemen" there´s a new section in the forum called "OTHER WARGAMES NOT YET SUPPORTED". If you´re interested to find opponents for PCO it´s a good idea to be a member. They´re starting so I´m the only one there at the moment. http://www.ww2wargamesclubforgentlemen.com/
Hope to see you there!!
