LOS good, cover medium, terrain and weather ok for the moment, no idea as yet if that can change, mortar seems to have gone awol also atm but will soon pop up i guess when and if needed for smoke or fight support, as the terrain is a bit open to the church

so plan, leave MG42 in cover, with facing and targeting the church, with the rest of the platoon flanking, but left or right won't matter as no cover either way tbh, but with smoke i could screen one way or the other, just need to know how to lay smoke now, first dip into manual[:D][;)]

Image

left seems doable as lay smoke, skirt round buildings, cover behind fence, into house, lay up recover scout and assault church from behind while MG42 lays covering fire / suppressing fire, sounds like a plan, now where's my mortar squad sleeping[&:]

after measuring the distance, it's about 3 times as far on the flanking manoeuvre, smoke won't last for ever, would be better to pin the church with mortar and MG suppressing fire and assault from the front maybe[:-]

or maybe now something new needed, thank god it's training as by now by men have long beards and bored them to death thinking too long, need action

Image

plan number 27, route march around, fire smoke then alternate with a odd shell, some MG suppressing fire thrown in, in burst when the units are in the open, lie low when behind cover, so short sprints, rest, then run until behind the church[:D][;)]

200 mt dash, but 12 turns to do it in, does make you think the direct path will be a suicide pack tbh [&o]

oh my what have i bought, a thinking man's game, oh know i'm doomed, takes me 10 mins to decide if i'm hungry, let alone where to go

Image

so plan 27 it is, MG cover, platoon runs around for 10 turns or so

so plan, cover church with MG done, men facing right direction of travel and orders to run like madmen, also done and so i end my turn, totally forget to look at manual to see where my mortar squad is tbh, but can always retry again if and when i loose[:D][;)]

see, who needs to read the manual? only girls read, yes i may have exited the game 3 times and changed the keyboard language to Arabic once, but by pressing every key more than a few times i now know what i'm doing, sort of [:D][;)]

Image

so while i go walk about's or send my men off anyway, they seem to think it's fun to assault me? charming and i thought this was on easy and i was assaulting them tbh [&o][&o][&o]

I know from reading some of your posts that manuals aren't your friend.

But if you want a hint, keep reading below.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

When the commander star is green, then he has radio contact with higher ups. And higher ups include off map artillery. Something like that might be useful if you wanted to lay some smoke. Or you might even be carrying some smoke grenades though you probably don't have many.

Thanks

learning on the job training, and if a few die in the process, then they needed to run a bit quicker, and be fitter maybe[:D][;)]

thanks, reading matter's little to me, i'm a die hard, will keep hitting my head on a brick wall until something breaks, normally i just cheat tbh, but a minor win is a win all the same, good game btw, look forward to xmas with some more play time now[&o][&o][&o]

then will do some more battle AAR's and see if everyone think's i'm as daft as i know i am[8|][X(][:D][;)]

this chaps a good runner, as my shot only just keep missing him, and he's pulling his gun behind him as well

i fire some HE at the approaching Russians while i try some suppressing fire on them as well, they do move fast mind you so have had to lay it in the path and not on them to try and catch them hopefully in cross fire and pinned maybe then drop some on them, all guess work tbh as never done it in game before [:'(]

I have to admit, I've never i've never tried that strategy for the Boot Camp opener! And it came closer to a win than I would have expected.

Thanks!
