Picking a Plan

This revised and updated turn-based grand strategy game from the team at AGEOD brings players back to World War I, including both the Eastern and Western fronts and over 4 campaigns and 10 scenarios. As either a member of the Central Powers, the Entente or a neutral nation, players will confront the epic gauntlet of military and political challenges that faced the likes of Kitchener, Joffre, Luddendorf, Clemenceau, Czar Nicholas II or Enver Pasha.

Picking a Plan

Post by decaro »

I read the AAR and saw that the human player can pick an historic plan to employ; can the AI do the same?

Is this choice similar to the "historic first turn" option of WitP where action unfolds on it's own, i.e., the player doesn't have to manually move any troops until he decides to intervene?

The AI can, and will, choose it's own plan. Playing the first few turns as the Entente (several times) I've seen the historical German plan, a shift to the East and an invasion of Switzerland instead of Belgium. The AI also seems to vary the options it chooses with the plans as well (morale, extra MUN etc). The Russian and Hungarian AI also choses different plans from time to time. It seems the the historical plans are the most common but the alternative plans are picked.

You do have to move your forces yourself though.

Joe 98...I highly recommend this game in its gold state.

The AI seems sound to me....so may choices to make that works both ways. Loads of replayability in this one.

If you have to move your own forces manually, what is the point of picking a plan?

The plans dictate where (what region) and with how much strength you have to attack in for example. Some French plans allow their armies to march through Belgium. Some German plans transfer several armies to the Russian front rather than the French border.

EDIT: It allows determines the national will of the nation and the number of events they (and their opponents) get to pick from and keep

The plans essentially assign your first targets, as well as offering different strengths/weaknesses but as to how you approach that target you're pretty much on your own.

Certain army's are locked aswell so you can't use them if the plan states it.

The plan states you can use those armies from a given turn on. Before that turn, those armies are commonly locked.

I'm assuming the info as to how that particular plan works is found "in-game," otherwise it would require more than a layman's knowledge of WW I.
