Crashes

Post by RogelioLaz »

I purchased this game yesterday. I keep crashing after a few turns. No more than 10-12. I would like to find solutions to this and also how to improve the speed of the game, as it is very slow. I don't know the path file to post the information, I am not so good in remembering and pc overall. I'd be more than happy to post the info.

Please attach the !Main log.txt file and a DxDiag report file to your message.

You can find the log file in your Windows documents folder at:
...\Documents\My Games\Wars of Napoleon\NGC\Logs

How to get a DxDiag report file:

1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8)
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
6. Attach the file to your message

Please do the following:

1. Uninstall the game.
2. Reinstall the game, but this time install in a different folder than C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\.... Install instead in for example C:\ Games\Matrix Games\....
3. Download the last patch from the link below: http://ftp.us.matrixgames.com/pub/WarsO ... e-v102.zip
4. Once you have downloaded the file please unzip it. Run the extracted file to update the game.
5. Open the game installation folder, find a file named Userpath.ini and delete it.
6. Don't load any of your previous games, start a new game and check if the crashes are persisting and the game is more stable for you.

Can't find a way to re-install it. But I do have a steam account and have heard of Ageod giving out keys for steam. Perhaps I can install it there instead and get different results. How might I request one?

You can request a new download link by opening a helpdesk ticket:

http://www.matrixgames.com/helpdesk/

These are the steps needed for redeeming a Steam key:

1. Register the game serial number in your Slitherine account:
http://www.slitherine.com/register_serial.php

2. Once you have registered the game in your account, you can redeem a Steam serial key:
http://www.slitherine.com/my_page/steam_serials

If you install the game through Steam, try installing in a different Steam library folder than the default one at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\.....
Install in for example C:\Games\Steam\...
For on how to add a new Steam library folder check the guide presented on the follwoing link:
http://www.mameau.com/fix-new-steam-lib ... -be-empty/
