Crashing after battle or at the end of a turn

My game has suddenly started crashing whether I run it on Steam or independently. Always after a big battle or a the end of a turn following a battle.
It says something in French and then just quits, although I've found the log report which makes no senses (and is part in French!)
Anyone else having this problem? Used to work fine...
