Hannibal: Rome and Carthage updated to Version 1.05!

Hannibal: Rome and Carthage in the Second Punic War is a new and innovative turn-based strategy game that puts you in command of the Carthaginian military during a period of total war over land and sea with the young Roman Republic. With this military juggernaut of the ancient world at your disposal, you will vie for control over Italy, Carthage, Spain and the Mediterranean Sea using a combination of strategic political maneuvering and sheer tactical skill both on land and sea. Play consists of two layers; the first is a strategic layer where you must prudently steer your forces to the destruction of Rome’s army and the ultimate destruction of the Republic and city itself. At your disposal are a variety of unit types and historical commanders from which to form your armies. On the tactical scale, when meeting the enemy in battle, skilled leadership and a knack for war come into play as you use a simple but engaging battle system to best your opponents.

Hannibal: Rome and Carthage updated to Version 1.05!

Post by Daniele »

Hi guys,

As you can see, the game has been updated to Version 1.05!

Here's the full list of changes:

V1.05 – March 2015
General Improvements and corrections:

o The game now implements a system of high scores. This includes a menu for viewing and managing a player's scores. This menu, the High Scores Menu, is ac-cessible from the main game menu.

o Corrects a crash which can occur after placing an army in one of the two smaller Agricultural Estates in the province of Zeugitania.

o Corrects a very rare crash that can occur when clicking the mouse just after the in-put has been locked and then unlocked during a transition or a "busy" period.

o Corrects an error in the game which didn't require mountain attrition when an army moves from Spain across the Pyrenees to attack the city of Genua. This can happen when the player doesn't control the city of Emporion in Spain.

o Corrects an error in the movement logic which allowed the player to use the Ex-tended March option in conjunction with sea movement if an army was escaping a besieged city.

o Corrects a similar error in the movement logic which allowed the player to use the Extended March option in conjunction with a separate play of the Escape By Sea option.

o Corrects an error in the game logic which incorrectly allowed a Syracusan leader to leave the island of Sicily.

o Corrected a couple of typos in the Help System and updated the manual to clarify the rule regarding the Extended March option.

Great to see a new update, very impressive ongoing support for the game.

Hopefully with the new High Score system even if I can't beat Rome I can now beat myself [:)]

Thank you for the update. This is one of my all time favourite solo games. The AI is always a challenge.

Thanks for this. I just bought the game but this update was not available. I found it but I was unable to play after that. The fix is to choose the compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2, that's a bit weird.
Hope that helps

Clicking "Check for Update" on the splash screen when you launch the game should work.

Hi,

I am looking to transfer this game to a newer PC ( Laptop ). Originally I added the 1.04 and 1.05 patches to my current PC as they were released. Do I need to add both the 1.04 and 1.05 patches now or just the 1.05 patch ?

Thanks.

I am pretty sure that the patches are cumulative, and therefore you should only need 1.0.5. But I will email the production people at Matrix Games to make sure and report back with the answer.

Sorry for the delay in responding! [:(]

all patches are cumulative, so you only need the latest, same with all games from all 3 forums here, slitherine, matrix and Ageod

Thanks zakblood. That's what I thought. So that is our answer.

Another thought: why not use the online updating? Is that not suitable for your laptop?

I believe my plan would be a trifle quicker, but thanks for the thought.

No Idea - I have no reason to suspect so though...
