Maybe not a strategy, but Japanese oil manipulation

Post by craigbear »

Don't know if anyone does this...

I like to save all of the Japanese oil in 1939. I then spend it in 1940 after the production multiple has increased to 1. I do not think it has a great effect on Japanese ultimate production planning.

I could be wrong.

I often plan to do this. However, when the time comes to build for Japan I never do it because I rather have the reinforcements earlier.

It depends on your strategy. Having more units in China ASAP is important. And using oil for production with Japan might haunt you later in the game. The longer Japan has stockpiled oil available for defense in late game, the better the odds for Japan to win the game.

I've seen players using oil to build units in early war and see themselves in 1944 without oil to fuel the ships and planes...

I personally hate the oil rule.

the game is just more fun without. you build and use more units.
