CUBA

The US decides to completely rid the Western Hemisphere of Red territory and captures Havana in a combined Marine and Airborne invasion.

US Airborne troops also land in Bluefields, Nicaragua and the Western player hopes to destroy the Sandanista forces there this turn so they can fully commit to Europe and Asia.

Also, the world map showing starting alignments.

Wild. Scary. Glad it never happened. Very cool looking. Must have been a ton of work. I've just modded a few unit characteristics and costs from time to time. Showed me the meaning of "attention to detail." Are you using the same time scale?

It would be quite a large download. I've never packaged it up for people to play with. Let me see how big it is.

If you mean each turn is equivalent to two months? Then yes. I'm not sure that can even be changed.

Thanks for the feedback. Its been a real fun ride putting this all together. You really have to heavily edit the game save file for it to work, plus learn what all the entries in the save game file mean.

Which Optional Rules do you use/suggest?
"Yes darling, I served in the Navy for eight years. I was a cook..."
"Oh dad... so you were a God-damned cook?"

Which Optional Rules do you use/suggest?

Because this is 50 years after WWII, I didnt choose some Optional Rules that didnt make sense.

Also, I wanted to play a simplified game, so I kept Oil Rules but removed alot of rules that added complexity but werent that valuable to me, like Cruisers in Flames. I didnt want to model modern navies in the same way they were in standard WIF so each ship counter represents a battle group, so Naval units are abstracted quite heavily.

Partisans I did not choose because of performance reasons and the fact that the world is pretty much two home countries and to model that kind of scale would be logistically a nightmare. I would have to raise the partisan number so high that in the early turns almost every hex captured would get a partisan on it. So, I just turned it off.

Here are the rules in play:

India. A desperate attack near Delhi causes the retreat of the Indian HQ, but at the cost of the Pakistan HQ. Not a good exchange.

Korea. In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have done this attack. It ends up disorganizing the rest of the front line and costs the Soviets one of their three airborne corps.

I think the size shouldn't be an issue, it will just take time for me to package the correct files. My directories are a mess of a bunch of edited files and I just need to sit down and get it neatly organized to which files are to be included which are not, etc.

SEP/OCT 1989, NATO Impulse 6

NATO performs a few critical attacks successfully, and also rolls a 1 to end the turn, which is possibly unlucky since the initial attacks by the Warsaw Pact had been blunted.

In Mozambique, Argentine and Brazilian troops dropped off last impulse joined up with South African troops to capture the capital of Mozambique. NATO needed this win since Cuban troops are enroute from Angola, and they didnt want to be fighting on two fronts.

In India, the failed Pakistani attack near Delhi left an opportunity for the Indian troops there to cut off supply to the invading forces.

Using two attacks on out of supply and disrupted forces they were able to knock out 3 units and send another in retreat.

In Syria, the US and Spanish forces press the attack on the Iraqi MTN Corps. This attack now pins the Syrian and Iraqi forces between the newly landed forces and the Israeli Army.

Due to fast transports, the US Marines and Paratroopers are picked up from Cuba and dropped into Nicaragua where a combined attack takes the last Warsaw Pact city in the Western Hemisphere. Unfortunately these mobile forces are now out of position to be deployed to Europe where they are more needed.

Just taking the first turn into account, I may lower the strengths of some of the NATO countries units.

With the tools I've created that effort doesnt even need a restart. I can do it on the fly using some Excel spreadsheets I've created to do mass edits on the save game file.
