Land attacks are undertaken...

In Latvia, near Kaunus, the Russians declare a Blitz. The defenders are retreated and 1/2 attackers disorganized.
In Ichang, China, Japan chooses an assault. Each side loses a unit. A NAV is destroyed in the bargain.

To be continued...

Continuing the Land Attacks...

Across the Loire in France, the hex is taken with all attackers disorganized and an ENG destroyed and the defenders retreated.

Near Paris, the CW attack destroys the defenders without any issues.

Finally, the attack on Naples shatters the defenders with one unit lost (an Italian ART) and leads to a breakthrough.

The US rebases air forward in Italy. China moves a FTR near Ichang. Russia rebases a couple of FTRs forward.

The turn does not end on a 6/>6.

Axis Impulse #12

Every Axis MP takes a Land.

Nothing happens until rail movement. Germany moves units from the Atlantic Wall to Italy.

Land moves see moves by both Germany and Japan to cover gaping holes in their lines. Japan does set up to make an attack on a Nationalist Chinese CAV.

Near Ichang, the CAV is declared against... it is shattered while Japan loses a MECH div and is 50% disrupted.

Japan moves a couple of FTR to better positions. No reorganizations are done by HQ.

The turn ends on a 2<7.

Sept/Oct 1944

Allies win initiative, no reroll.

Allied Impulse #1

With a 3, weather is fine everywhere.

The USA takes a super-combined, France takes a Naval and CW/Russia/China take Land actions.
The USA flies FTRs into the Coral Sea, 4-box.

France and the USA load many TRS and cover convoys as best they may. Units are set for invasions in various locales... mostly the North Sea and Italian Coast.

The Americans activate and find in the Marianas. 6 points are used to decrease Japanese naval combat effectiveness while 2 are used to increase the allies own. This sees a Japanese CA destroyed and a BB damaged. No one finds for a 2nd round.

No other naval results arise.

To be continued...

Allied Impulse #1 Con't

There is no Strategic Bombing done.

Russia does a few GSs. An ART strike is done east of Kaunas and an LND is sent against Vilna in Poland. Two ART strikes are done over the Polish border south of the Pripet Marshes and an LND strikes against Guderian and a large ARM west of Chisinau. Nationalist China strikes 2 hexes west of Kweilin. The CW attempts a low-odds GS against a Japanese stack in Burma. France attempts to GS a hex across the Seine SE of Rouen. It is joined by an American LND The USA does further GS against a hex SW of Paris and and ART and LND 2 hexes SW of Paris. Finally, Rome gets some GS against it as well.

Germany intercepts in a few places, and is count-intercepted in turn. Over Vilna, 1 German FTR is destroyed and the Russian LND cleared. In Rumania, after aborting the Russian LND, the German FTR is destroyed.

Ground support air combat to be continued...

SE of Rouen, both Allied LND are cleared while a German FTR is blown up. SW of Paris, after the German FTR is aborted, the American LNDs clear through. Over Rome, a USA Nav destroyed while a Brazilian FTR is cleared and an LND is aborted.

Ground strikes were largely successful, except no units were disorganized in Naples.

To be continued with rail movement for the Allies...

The CW rails a MIL from Bombay to adjacent to Burma. The USA rails MIL to various areas along the Eastern Seaboard.

All the MPs move to set up attacks on vulnerable hexes.

CW invades Le Havre while a PARA is used against Rome.

Attacks are declared by the Western Allies against Rome, Le Havre, the hex SE of Rouen, and a hex 2 hexes SW of Paris. In Russia, a hex just east of Riga is attacked as is a hex West of Kaunas and a hex west of Minsk as well as Guderian's redoubt in Rumania. Finally, a mountain hex NW of Nanyang is attacked by the Communist Chinese.

There are a variety of air combats for ground support.

In Lithuania, the Russian LND is cleared while 1 German LND is destroyed and the other aborted. In Rumania, over Guderian, a Russian FTR is destroyed, but 3 LND are cleared. Near Rouen, the CW has 1 LND destroyed and another aborted while the rest are cleared, while the Germans see 3 FTRs destroyed and an LND last while 2 LND clear before the Germans abort the combat. Finally, over Rome, the German FTR is destroyed while the Allied LND is cleared.

Land attacks will continue next...

Land Attacks continue in the far east..

In Northern China, a dreaded modified 14 is rolled, leading to 3 units destroyed for Communist China while the Japanese MIL is also destroyed. In Burma, no loses are had by either side, but the CW units are all flipped.

Allied Impulse #1 Con't

Land Attacks continue in Europe... and then the impulse ending.

In France, Le Havre, the port is taken, no losses. Near Rouen, the hex is taken and the defenders retreat disorganized while 1/2 disruption occurs for the CW attackers. SW of Paris, a breakthrough occurs with all defenders destroyed. Against Rome, both Germans are destroyed (Kesselring and an INF) while the allies lose a unit (a MOT) and are 50% disorganized.

Many rebases take place for the USA with some taking the Greenland route and others moving forward off of TRS and into better locations. Russia moves an LND forward.
McArthur reorganizes a couple of FTR and land units in Italy. Clarke fixes up some Essex CVs in Brisbane. Bradley unflips some FTRs in France. Alexander and Crerar reorganize both FTRs and land units in France and Mountbatten does the same in India with a FTR. Russian HQ work on units in the north and south fronts.

Axis Impulse #2

Germany takes a Land, Italy a Combined and Japan, a Naval.

Italy moves its fleet into the 2-box of the West Med. Japan moves its various sea forces to cover comvoys and reinforces the Coral Sea as well as moving a small force into the Bismarck Sea (with many TRS/AMPH for resupply). As well, a small CV fleet moves into the Bay of Bengal.

In the West Med, both sides find with Italy getting 2 surprise. They use it to decrease the ill effects on them. A CL is damaged for the US while no effect is had on the Italian ships. In a second round, Italy finds again with no surpise benefit. An American CA is aborted while 2 Italian CLs are aborted. The Italians find a 3rd time and choose a surface with 4 of their 5 surprise points. A CW CL is damaged while the final 2 Italian ships are aborted as well, ending combat.

In the Coral Sea, both sides find with the USA gaining 3 surprise points. 2 are used to decrease the Japanese air effectiveness. 2 Japanese CVP bombers are cleared while 1 American gets through. Notably, a Japanese FTR (8 factors) is aborted. 3 Japaneses factors are reduced by AA. The Japanese fleet AA is very effective, taking out the CVP. An Essex CV is sent to the bottom and a CA aborted. There is no 2nd round.

The South China Sea is activated by France. The Allies find with surprise. SUB combat selected, 1 SUB is damaged and the other aborted. On the other hand, 2 CP are sunk and 3 aborted.

Naval combat ends with no other successful activations.

There are no Strategic Bombing runs. Germany does a GS with an ART in Rumania. Japan GSs a South African INF in Burma. This leads to intercepts and counter-intercepts. The CW loses a FTR while the Japanese lose the GS NAV.

Germany rails 2 INF to the eastern Front and a MIL to Toulouse. Germany once more tries to make a line where none is to be had.

Japan rebases an A/C to Rabaul from a TRS. Yamamoto reorganizes 3 naval units. 2 TRS/AMPHs reorganize a FTR in Rabaul.

Allied Impulse #3

The weather takes a turn for the worse with a 10 rolled. ST/ST/R/ST/R/F

China/USSR/France take Land. The CW takes a Naval. The USA takes a combined.

The USA sends a few FTRs into the Coral Sea 4 Box.

CW moves massively into the North Sea and Italian Coast. It does many TRS/AMPH moves. It moves into the Bay of Bengal with a CV fleet. The USA moves its AMPHs into the Solomons Sea and moves 2 Essex CVs into the 4 box of the Coral Sea while also moving an empty CV to Port Vila.

The USA finds in the Marianas with 8 surprise. The values are used to minimize losses while maximizing damage to the Japanese... leading to a destroyed CA for that side.

In the Coral Sea, Japan finds with 3 surprise. It is used to lessen enemy air power. After 1 round and a USA aborted FTR with a Japanese CVP aborted, the Japanese abort the combat. Both sides find for a 2nd round. Japan has 2 surprise points, again used to defend against Air. After destroying a US FTR, Japan again aborts the air combat. There is no 3rd round.

No other naval searches are successful.
