The Ground Support combats continue...

In France, Germany loses a FTR and an LND while the CW loses an LND. After Germany aborts the combat everybody else aborts. In Italy, all Allied bombers are cleared when the German FTR is aborted.

Several Ground combats are now underway. In France and Italy, three are carried out. For Cherbourg, all three attackers take the port unscathed. At St. Malo, the Wesernmost, the German chooses a blitz in hopes of saving the HQ. It was likely the best choice as the HQ is shattered and 1/2 the attackers disorganized. The Americans also choose to destroy a MOT and disorganize a MAR ENG div. In the easternmost and final Occupied France hex, a blitz is chosen by the USA causing the defender to be shattered and the loss of the American Armored MAR div with 1/2 disorganized. Finally, in Italy, Germany chooses an assault resulting in 2 lost units for the Americans IINF/MTN div) and the defender's destruction, giving up the hex.

Now, four attacks occur in Russia. First, near Smolensk, Russia chooses a blitz and disorganized defenders retreat while the Russians are 50% disorganized taking the hex. Further south, in the swamp, an assault is chosen by Germany in which Germany and Russia both lose a unit and all the Russians are disrupted (oops, forgot the screen shot). SW of Kiev, Russia chooses a blitz and eliminates 2 defenders and the other is shattered with no consequences for the attackers. A significant breakthough occurs. Finally, north of Odessa, a similar result happens with 2 of 3 defenders destroyed and the other shattered while the attackers are unaffected and go on to Breakthrough.

Four attacks happen in the far east. In the north, the Japanese lose a MIL while a MIL and INF div are lost by the Communists and 50% are disorganized. Near Nanning, Japan loses a CAV div unit while China is disorganized and loses a MOT div. There are 2 auto attacks in the Pacific as will, in New Britain and Tabar islands.

McArthur reorganizes units in Italy, both Air and Land while Eisenhower reorganizes A/C in England. De Gaulle partially reorgs an LND (which will be completed by UK TRSs). Russia uses all of its HQs.

Some of the Fronts at the start of the Axis 2nd impulse. The situation looks dire on almost all Fronts. Southern Russia is a mess while France is not looking too good as well, with little or no chance for a counter attack. Italy is a bit stronger, but still not all that great. Finally, it looks like the Allies are soon to broach the Bismarck Sea.

Axis Impulse #2

Germany and Japan take a Land while Italy takes a combined move.

Nothing happens for Naval.

Japan does conduct an attempted Strategic bombing in China, but fails.

Germany rails units east and south to Italy. Its land movement involves shoring up Italian defenses as well as those in France. As well, it pulls back in Northern Russia to allow some units to start traveling south to save that area from total collapse. Finally, it moves into Vichy France to save its potential BPs from Allied conquest, which seem immenent at this time. As for Japan, it shuffles units in the north to try to stem the Communist advances there.

Air rebases move some FTRs into France to see if they can help. Japan stages a FTR to Guam from the Japanese islands.
Model reorganizes an ARM and MOT in France. Von Bock and Rommel flip some units back up in the north of Russia. Guderian reorgs a couple of railed INF and a FTR in the south of Russia.

Allied Impulse #3

A roll of 9 bring Fair weather everywhere once more.

CW takes an Air (first for anyone in the game), France takes a Land. US, China and Russia take Lands... Russia uses an OFF chit to reorganize all its HQs.

Nothing happens during the Naval portions of the Impulse, except the CW uses an A/C to activate in the Coral Sea. No one finds so the turn moves on.

The CW does a 3 LND Strat Bombing run, unopposed, on Stuttgart. Rolling a 1 is less than helpful and no damage is done.
Russia does some air missions with ART and LND. One over Smolensk is countered and another on Manstein in the south is also answered, both in kind as well. Over Smolensk, the German FTR is destroyed while the Russian LND clears.
Similarly, the Russian LND over Manstein clears while the German FTR is aborted. Manstein is disorganized while all three units in Smolensk are disrupted.

Another weak INF gets railed to the Far East. The USA moves around some units in France, notably taking Brest in a walk through and causing the SUBS there to rebase to Marseilles. MAR units infiltrate into the coastal areas of the Bismarck Sea as much as possible and units move forward in Italy. Russia moves units into position in the North, and cuts a flipped
Manstein's supply. The USA debarks several units into controlled hexes on the French Coast.

The US declares 2 attacks, one against Naples and the other just south of Cherbourg. Russia declares against Smolensk, Manstein's stack, and a MIL just 3 hexes north of Odessa.

The CW and USA add shore bombardment to Naples. Ground support is offered by the Russian over Vitebsk. Germany really does not have much left in the tank to offer any ground support, or if it could, it would not make much of a difference.

One attack in the USSR is automatic and merely takes out a speedbump MIL. Against Vitebsk, the Germans call an assault. It loses 2 MIL but the div survives to go to the spiral. A Blitz is chosen against Manstein, and with a modified roll over 21, he is destroyed along with a Rumanian MIL. The American B just south of Cherbourg rolls a modified 23 taking out that unit and gaining the hex without cost. Germany choses a B vs. Naples. There ends up being no losses on either side and the Americans are all flipped.

The CW rebases several strong FTRs to France and the USA drops a couple of LNDs off in the bargain. INF HQs in England restore a number of LNDs and FTRs. INF HQ in Russia do likewise.

Axis Impulse #4

Japan and Italy take naval actions while Germany takes a land.

Japan moves a FTR into the 4 box of the Coral Sea. After, move naval units are moved into that zone to confront American forces there. Convoy routes are also protected as well as a couple of units being transported in the directions of both Rabaul and Truk. Italy moves the remainder of its fleet to the West Med 3 and 4 boxes.

Japan initiates in the Coral Sea, but again, is surprised to a great degree (7 surprise). In the ensuing air combat, the Japanese bomber gets through while all American bombers do as well. The Japanese goes Kamikaze. 4 points are used by America to increase AA destroying the bomber anyhow. Japanese rolls a 1 and 8 on lowest of 2 so only 1 American factor is removed. A X against the Japanese CV Hiryu is converted to a D by a good roll, but the US selects the next target, also an X, so it sinks. In a second round, Japan gains surprise with 3 points. It ends up that no Japanese are cleared while the American CVP FTR is destroyed and the lone CVP bomber aborts. In a 3rd round, both sides succeed with no surprise. In the air combat, the Japanese CVP bomber is aborted while a FTR and CVP bomber of the Allies are destroyed and another FTR aborted, before the allies abort the air combat. Neither side finds in a 4th round.

In the Bay of Bengal, combat is initiated by the Japanese, but the CW achieves surprise of 9, 4 being used to choose a surface action. 2 more are used to decrease damage, a second reduces damage. 1 CW ship is damaged. 1 Japanese CL is damaged and the other aborted. The Japanese choose to leave the area totally.

Naval combats end.

Germany rails a few units around to the east and Bordeaux specifically. Movement is done in Russia to try to make a line, and in France in a similar way.

Rebases are done by Germany to send some air to the Russian and French fronts. Japan moves a FTR closer to the action in the Coral Sea. Some naval reorganization of units in Truk and Rabual is done.

Allied Impulse #5

Weather is Fine except for Nothern Monsoon which experiences rain.

Everyone takes a land except for France which takes a combined action.

Naval and Strat Bombing go through without any movement of units nor bombing runs.

Russia attempts a couple of ART GSs as well as using an ATR on a stack SW of Vitebsk. 1 notable one is on the isolated INF stack in southern Russia. No interceptions are attempted. In the north, all three armour are flipped while in the south, an INF is flipped of the three.
Russia rails another minor INF to Siberia. Movement is done to seek the best attacks. The USA does likewise in France; however, as the ARM ratio is not good, it is unlikely a favourable attack can be made as yet. The Commonwealth moves ever forward in Burma while disembarking a number of units into Sicily, England and France.

The CW does a div invasion of some random island in the Solomon's Sea Zone. Russia declares an attack against a hex SW of Vitebsk and another on the surrounded INF in the south. Russia sends in Ground support to both hexes but the Germans only intercept near Vitebsk. In Air Combat, after 2 German FTR are destroyed in return for one Russia, a Russia LND clears through and everyone aborts.

In the land combat near Smolensk, Russia blitzes and shatters all the defenders with 1/2 of the attackers disrupted and a MOT div destroyed. The blitz attack overruns a German LND destroying it and putting a few German units OOS. In the south, the attackers get the chance to retreat the OOS stack of INF/ART, eliminating it without any harm to the attackers. The CW attack on Orotuk is automatic.

Air is rebased by the CW and USA into France and Sicily while Russia moves some FTR forward in the South. A FTR is reorganized by the USA near the Coral Sea. Zhukov reorganizes FTR and LND plus an ART in the south while another reorganizes 3 land units in the north.

Japan and Italy take Naval while Germany takes a Land Action.

Japan moves another FTR into the 4 box of the Coral Sea. Then it moves naval units into the Coral Sea 3 and 4 boxes including 1 CV.

In the West Med, both sides find with no surprise and a Naval Air action is called by the CW. 3 of 6 factors get through for the CW and abort a CA while damaging a BB. Allies find in the 2nd round with surprise of 7. 4 are used to negate AAA and 3 remain and are used to select target. The Roma is damaged and then aborted. The combat is not renewed for another round.

Naval action to be continued...

In the Coral Sea, Japan finds with 8 surprise. 2 CVs are damaged for the States after air combat aborts its CVP and damages 2 CVs. In a 2nd round, Japan gets 7 surprise. All are used to nullify AAA as the USA has 2 damaged CVs and no planes. An already damaged Essex CV is sunk. In the 3rd round, the USA gets surprise of 4 and avoids combat.

The naval round ends.

Germany resorts its units on all fronts and looks for a counter attack in the Russian north. It declares an attack on a hex SW of Vitebsk. Russia adds ART ground support in defense. The result is a russian retreat, disorganized and 1/2 attacks likewise disorganized. The retreating Russian unit ends up OOS and flipped on an ARM in similar straits (excepting the disorganized part).

Germany does some rebases in France and Russia. It uses an ARM HQ in the south to reorg 2 A/C.

Allied Impulse #7

Weather is Fine everywhere.

CW, China and Russia have Land actions while US and France do combineds.

For Naval Air, the CW and the US add FTR to the 3 and 4 boxes in the Coral Sea. In Naval moves a couple of CAs pick up a MAR and INF div for USA and CW respectively.

In the West Med, Italy get surprise on a USA activation for 5. 4 are used to choose surface combat. The Impero is damaged and aborted (and will not be returning, unless Italy has sufficient pilots to cash in to do so). The CW sees 1 D and 2 A CLs. Italy aborts the Sea Zone.

In the Coral Sea, Japan activates but the Allies gain surprise (5 Points). An air combat results... the Allies decrease Japanese air combat by 1 and save 3 for targeting. A Japanese FTR is destroyed while a CVP is likewise lost for the USA which has another FTR aborted. Both have a CVP bomber cleared through and the Japanese decides to abort the combat. The Japanese CVP is destroyed by AAA though, while 4 of 5 get through for the USA. The Kaga is sunk. Both sides continue for the next round and the Allies find with Surprise (8 pts). Air combat ensues with the Japanese FTR being destroyed while a CVP Bomber and USA FTR being aborted clearing through a lone Allied CVP. 4 surprise lowers the AAA in minimal and the other 4 increase damage inflicted. A Japanese BB and CA are damaged. In a 3rd round, the Japanese gain surprise of 4 and choose a surface combat. A BB and CA are destroyed and a CA damaged for the USA, while a CV is aborted. For Japan, 3 BBs and a CL are damaged. At this point, the Allies choose the better part of valor and retreat from the sea zone.

The naval phase ends.

No Strategic bombing is done. Similarly, no Allied power does a Ground Strike.

Another crappy Russian INF is railed eastward. A MOT div is railed to the East Coast from the West Coast of the USA. Western Allies move units about controlled France, but lacking enough armour to make a reasonable attack and control the call, they forgo any attacks. Russia moves forward along the Front looking for opportunities to attack, but seeing no realistic chances until more air moves forward.

No attacks are declared.

USA reorganizes a CV in Brisbane.

The turn does not end with 7>2 rolled.
