Safety tip... as Germany, do not liberate Italy as it will be reconquered in the next turn and any Italian land units in Italy proper will once more disappear.

Mar/April 1944

Allies win initiative with no option for rerolls.

Allied Impulse #1

Weather is R/R/F/F/R/F

The USA chooses a super-combined while the CW and France take a naval and the Russians and Chinese take lands.
The US moves a FTR into the 4 Box in the Coral Sea. The CW moves a NAV into the West Med 4 Box.

Numerous naval moves are done by the Allies with many TRS/AMPHs traveling about. Notably, some AMPHs are loaded with potential invaders in the Italian Coast as well as an ARM in Sicily onto a TRS there. The Americans reinforce the Coral Sea and the Solomons as well.

During Allied activation, the Japanese successfully find the Americans in the Coral Sea with a lot of surprise. However, even with 8 surprise, they elect to avoid combat as the air differential seems to be too significant to be made up with surprise points.

There are no other successful activations.

For Strategic bombing, the Nationalist Chinese make an attempt on Canton; however, there is no effect from the attempt.

For GS attempts, China uses an ART near Nanning. A 5 LND/NAV/CVP combined GS is conducted against Salerno (a 3 stack) evenly divided between the CW and USA (a roll of 2 is required for each of them, except for the CVP requiring a 1, to succeed due to the forest there). Russia decides to do no GSs. Germany intercepts with a FTR in the effected hex. There are plenty of willing counter-interceptors. The result is that an American CVP working as a bomber is destroyed while the German FTR is aborted and the 4 LND left are cleared.

All three units in Salerno are disorganized. On the other hand, the Chinese fail in their GS.

Russia moves to see if a decent attack can be made given the poor weather. Incidentally, a partisan overruns a German FTR in the south. The USA positions units in the UK for offensive actions in future. Units are debarked and moved about in Italy looking for an attack on Salerno. A MAR is landed in Port Vila at the junction of the Coral Sea and the Solomons. Another moves along the island chain from there. Finally, a Paradrop is conducted on Salerno. It is escorted by a Brazilian FTR. A German unit intercepts, and is countered in strength. One American FTR is destroyed but the PARA clears when the German is aborted.

Attacks are declared on Salerno by the Americans. Russia attacks a cannon fodder MIL north of Nikolayev in Southern Russia. The USA adds a large shore bombardment amount to Salerno.

The Russian attack is automatic. Salerno is immensely successful with no losses and 2 of 3 units lost (Inf and ARM div) and a MTN shattered for the Germans.

MacArthur reorganizes a CW FTR and US LND in Italy. Nimitz fixes 2 CVs and a TRS in Honolulu.

Axis Impulse #3

Germany takes a land while Italy and Japan take combined actions.

During Naval Air, Japan moves 2 FTR from Rabaul to the 2-box of the Coral Sea.

Japan moves some loaded TRS with FTRs to Rabaul. It moves a large fleet into the 4 box of the Coral Sea. Italy moves a SUB into the Bay of Biscay.

In the Bay of Biscay, only the Allies find with 7 surprise. They use it all to increase damage to the SUB. It is damaged and the action ends.

No other naval actions are successfully activated.

There are no Strat Bombing runs or Ground Strikes.

Germany rails units into Russia and Italy both. Italy moves an ART to Naples. Japan rails a MOT on the coast to Changsha.

Japan moves a few units in China and Burma. Italy really does nothing with land moves. Germany sorts out its units in all theatres.

Germany declares an auto attack on partisans that had disorganized an air last Allied impulse. There is no ground support offered on either side. The hex is taken with both Partisans destroyed.

German does rebases as expected. Japan rebases a couple of air to cover now vulnerable factories in Canton and Singapore.

No Axis HQ reorganizations were done.

Mar/April 1944 Con't

Allied Impulse #5

Weather - R/R/F/F/R/F

USA/France and USSR take combineds while China and the CW take land actions.

The USA moves a small CV/TRS fleet (with MAR) into the 3 box of the Solomons and another group (2 MAR Divs/MAR) into the Coral Sea. Russia moves its navy from Leningrad to the 2-box in the Baltic.

The USA activates and finds in the Coral Sea. Having only found with its weak force in the 4 box, the USA decides to avoid combat.

There is no Strategic bombing and only 1 GS in italy on the East Coast north of Bari. That strike is a success.
The CW rails a couple of units to the border of Burma from the west coast of India. Russia shifts the 5 units they are allotted to the emptied hexes in southern Russia. The USA rearranges units in Sicily. China moves a MOT div out of the mountains to reposition for later in the turn. There are three invasions... one is an American MAR on the Motlok Islands by Truk and another is by the CW on Nukufetau in the Solomons SZ. Both these are Automatic. A final one is on the east coast of Italy.

There is only 1 attack that is not automatic, that is in Italy. The CW adds a lot of shore bombardment. A much ground support is added as possible from both the US and CW and in not able to be intercepted (7 in total). Germany adds nothing in response as possible interceptors make this a poor bet.

The auto attacks are successful, of course. In the Italian Mountains, the attack is successful with no losses for the attackers.

The USA rebases air units in England to be able to reach the coast at need. China rebases a decent LND to Ankang in close to Communist territories. Russia rebases several A/C to the front in southern Russia.

Axis Impulse #7

Germany takes a Land, Japan a Combined and Italy passes.

Japan moves a TRS into the China Sea to pick up a CAV. It moves a TRS w/FTR to Rabaul.

Japan activates in the Coral Sea with 5 surprise of which 4 are used to increase effectiveness of air attack by 2. After 1 round of air combat, Japan aborts the combat having had its largest CVP aborted. The Allies find in the 2nd round with 5 surprise. After 1 round of air, the Japanese abort the fight having lost 1 CVP bomber and pilot. 2 surprise is used to lower AAA leading to 7 factors remaining in the attack. The last 3 select a target. The Akagi goes down with a failed X and a successful D applied. Another Japanese CVP is destroyed as its CV is gone. There is no 3rd round as both sides fail to find.

No strategic bombing is done nor is there any GS.

Germany rails an INF and MOT div to the French Coast while Japan conducts none. Germany works on its defenses on all fronts while Japan moves a MAR div from Truk onto a vulnerable island next door and drops the CAV into mainland China. No combats are declared.

More A/C are moved into Russia and another is moved into France by Germany. Japan does a few different rebases for positioning sake. No HQs are used for reorganizations.

The turn does not end on a 6>2 roll.

Allied Impulse #9

Weather is B/Sn/St/R/St/St, good for Russia but not many others.

All Allied powers take Land, except France which takes a combined. Russia uses an offensive Chit on Zhukov.

2 ART strikes are conducted against Kiev as well as 2 LND entering the fray. These go unintercepted. Both units in Kiev are disrupted.

A 5-1 GAR is railed to Vlad from Western Europe by Russia.

The USA and CW shuffle units around the UK and Italy, while there is also CW movement in Burma. Russia is able to turn the German flank via the Pripet Marshes north of Kiev.

Russia declares 3 attacks. First, in the north there is an attack 3 hexes east of Minsk. Another is on Kiev. A final one is 2 hexes SW of Kiev.

The weather allows GS in Kiev, so Germany sends a couple of heavy FTRs over the city. Russia does not react and a measly 2 factors are added to the defenders.

In the north, the hex is taken with no loses and 50% disorganized while the defenders are retreated and disrupted. In Kiev, Germany chooses a Blitz, but there are no survivors and the Russians take the city without issue. In the south of Kiev, again 1/2 of attackers are disorganized and the defender must retreat in disorder.

Russia moves a FTR to the front in the south. CW and USA move air units in the UK. The CW uses an HQ to reorganize a couple of INF in Burma. Zhukov and a couple of ARN HQ reorganize Russian units.

The turn does not end on an 8>4.

May/Jun 1944

Allies win initiative, no reroll possible.

Allied Impulse #1

Weather is Fine Everywhere.

The CW and France take Naval actions while China and the USSR take Land. The USSR uses an OFF chit on a Land while the USA uses one on a super-combined.

The CW conducts a port strike against an out of supply La Spezia. Gaining surprise, the Italian fleet manages to avoid the combat and the CVP return to their ships without causing any damage. For Naval Air, both the USA and CW move air into the Coral Sea.

During Naval move, invasion fleets are assembled in the North Sea, Italian Coast, and Coral Sea. There are loaded TRSs and AMPHs travelling everywhere as well as convoy escorts. A couple of loaded AMPHs (with INF) and a TRS (with a FTR) move into the Pacific for future use.

Only 1 naval combat was successfully activated in the South China sea, with the Japanese gaining 2 surprise on the American SUB there. The SUB makes its save and is merely aborted rather than damaged.

There are no Strategic Bombing runs. China attempts another Artillery GS near Nanning. The Communists make a similar attempt in the mountains near Sian. Russia attempt ART strikes near Smolensk and Minsk as well as a little north of Odessa. An air strike is sent west of Kiev with an escort as well as another immediately to the west of Kiev. Italy, the western allies send GSs against Naples and the mountain hex NE of same. In France, four hexes running from St. Malo to the hex along the coast just SW of Rouen are hit by escorted bombers. An American CW is looking to GS a unit in Brest as well. The sheer numbers of possible interceptors in France dissuade any action there. In Russia, 2 German FTRs about to be GSed anyhow, rise to intercept the Russian LND. The Russian counters and in the ensuing combat the Russian LND is aborted while a German FTR also leaves the combat and then both sides abort.

Results in Russia are all enemy units disrupted by ART near Smolensk, none near Minsk, none west of Kiev, and the ART north of Odessa flips 2 of 3 ground units while leaving the FTR intact. In France, Brest has no effect, the Yugo HQ in St. Malo flips, the hex east of that is also disorganized, as is a MECH further west of that, and finally, an ARM is also disorganized beside the Seine River... so the whole defensive line is destroyed. In Italy, 1 unit in Naples is disrupted but there is otherwise no effect. Finally, there are no successful GSs in China.

Allied Impulse #1 Con't

Russia rails a minor INF to Vlad.

For Movement, the USA shuffles around Italy. China moves a couple of units without much purpose. Russia moves numerous units into attack positions along the front with Germany while the Communist Chinese look to set up an attack in the mountains near Sian.

Invasions take place along the coast of France in three places. Others take place in New Britain and in the Tabar Island near New Ireland. Russia attempts an escorted Paradrop near Kiev. The ATR is cleared and the para happens.

Russia declares an attack SE of Smolensk, one a few hexes to the east near Minsk in the swamp, another sw of Kiev a couple of hexes, and a final attack a couple of hexes north of Odessa. The Communists attack SE of Sian in China. The Nationalists attack a forested hex near Nanning. Finally, the Americans commit to an attack in Italy.

Mao gives HQ support in China. Ground Support is maximized on the French Coast.

There are several battles over Ground Support. Near Smolensk, 1 Russian LND is destroyed while 2 are cleared, while 1 German LND clears and everybody aborts after that. SW of Kiev, after a German FTR is aborted, the Germans leave the combat and that is the end there. Near Odessa, Germany loses a FTR-Bomber while Russia loses a FTR and the combat ends.
