Axis turn of October 20th, 1944
The German government admitted the loss of two more major cities: Leipzig and Nuremberg, as well as five infantry corps, a panzergrenadier corps and another army headquarters and its associated troops.
British units liberated Oslo, leaving Copenhagen as the only other major city outside of the Reich still in German hands. At sea, three German cruiser squadrons engaged a British destroyer squadron hoping for a quick victory. However, the British squadron, latter revealed to be the Greek Navy that escaped in 1941, only received moderate damage while inflicting itself moderate damage on two of the cruiser squadrons and almost sinking the third one despite the more than 3 to 1 German superiority, the loses were 4 to 1 in favor of the Greeks.

RE: Nirosi (Axis) vs PL1 (Allies) No PL1 for now
Axis turn of November 3rd, 1944
Alerted by the Greek squadron on the exact whereabouts of the German fleet, a large US fleet engaged the German ships already in bad shape in a one-sided night battle that witnessed the end of the German surface navy. Also at sea, German U-Boats managed to intercept the Soviet 17th Army in the Baltic and, despite the lack of escorts, inflicted only moderate damage. However, the 17th Army seem highly disorganised now and will probably not be in operational shape for a few months.
On land OKH reported the loss of two divisions and five corps, as well as an Army HQ. Some of those units surrendered, some were destroyed and some simply dispersed for now. OKL conducted some harassing operations against Soviet tank corps but sustained heavy loses. Two Fliegekorps and a Jagdgekorps, almost completely depleted were disbanded, another Fliegekorps was lost in combat.
After a brief liberation a few days ago, Hanover was once again occupied by Allied troops, this time for good probably. And the Red Army has reached Berlin’s Southern and Western suburbs where the best German infantry corps still available is defending the city.

Axis turn of November 17th, 1944
The last few days brought many loses on what is left of the Wehrmacht and the Reich.
Hamburg was taken by American troops and after a campaign of 14 days of bombing and four days of continuous assault on the battered defenders, Berlin, in ruins, fell to the Red Army, been officially surrendered by general Weidling a few hours after Captain Makov raised the Soviet flag on the roof of the Reichstag on November 30th. Some members of the government left the city just in time and drove by night to Stettin. Only some small neighborhoods in the North-East of Berlin are still defended by ad hoc German troops.

Romania is now cut in two after a Soviet Offensive East of Bucharest. The Romanian government has sent emissaries to the front line to enquire, albeit naively, about the Soviet’s terms.

RE: Nirosi (Axis) vs PL1 (Allies) No PL1 for now
Axis turn of December 1st, 1944
Bad weather seems to have postponed for now an attack on Stettin, the last German major city still in German hands. For now, the Red Army has only done some mop-up actions and the Western Allies seem to have stopped offensive operations altogether, demanding unconditional surrender of the last German units in order to avoid unnecessary deaths.
Stettin defenders are not many at only two divisions, supplemented with a specialized anti-tank regiment, but they have high morale and since the last few days top of the line experimental infantry equipment. However, Soviets troops in the immediate sector are over ten time as many. The only other sector with a semblance of German resistance is in Schleswig-Holstein.
OKM reported that the U-boats operations, now from Norwegian bases, have reached an important symbolic number by having sunk 50 million tons of allied merchant shipping since 1939. It is also estimated that the Allies lost between 336 and 420 escorts of all sorts in those same operations. However, the 5th U-boat flotilla was lost at sea, leaving the Kriegsmarine with only two such flotillas, containing a number of operational submarines equivalent in reality to only one flotilla.
Surprisingly, no Soviet offensives were reported in Romania. Perhaps the Soviet government is considering how to answer to the Romanian government’s inquiry of last week?

RE: Nirosi (Axis) vs PL1 (Allies) No PL1 for now
Axis turn of December 15th, 1944
Stettin defenders surrendered after only two days of battle but probably the most massive bombardment that ever happened since the start of the war. The German government, or what is left of it, ordered from Copenhagen the immediate surrendering of all German troops still fighting.
In Romania, panics sets in in Bucharest when the Soviets finally answered the Romanian government inquiry by resuming their offensive and surrounding the city even more, and then launching a five-day assault. Romanian defenders barely managed to hold on. The Romanian air force is still harassing Soviet troops that themselves are without air cover.

Axis turn of December 29th, 1944
Alas, Soviet troops just had to resume their offensive to the doors to Bucharest one more time for it to crumble. What was left of the Romanian defenders were no match for the Red Army massive resources.
After five days of battle the city fell when the defenders surrendered and three days later, on December 29th, the army high command, that had moved to Ploiesti, after one more refusal from Moscow to accept any terms other than unconditional surrender, ordered all Romanian units to cease-fire and disarm.

The game freezes and show no results/numbers for casualties or forces on my last turn if I try to look at the whole war report. However, just in case I took a picture of the ones from last turn which are almost the same. Just a few Soviet and Romanian step losses are missing.
We can see it was a very brutal war for all involved.

The Western Allies (UK, US Canada) have land forces equivalent of ~75% of the Soviet forces, making both side close to even. In the Air, Allies airplanes outnumber the Soviet by more than 2vs1.

Well, that's all folks. Hope you enjoyed the AAR. Many thanks and well deserved congratulations to PL1 for the great game.[:)]
I enjoyed writing it and (most of the time anyway[;)]) playing it.
PS: Official end date is December 29th, 1944 which does bring the small frustration of missing 1945 by 3 days![8|]

Thanks for the AAR, I enjoy reading it.
Chancellor Gorkon to Captain James T. Kirk:
You don't trust me, do you? I don't blame you. If there is to be a brave new world, our generation is going to have the hardest time living in it.
