In the west the first strategic bombing with fighter escorts take place. The result not very promising losing 8-2 air strength but a nice 5 point hit on Cologne.

Summer comes to an end here is the frontline with forces and casualties. Frontline better than historical except Moscow at least something
. Soviet army barely bigger then the German but I have started to disband a few bad units. I think I was at like 2200 before disbanding.

Rain in Russia puts an end to the summer campaign in the east. In Tunisia the impotent allies are completely unable to do anything. Only in Egygt the 8th army tries to launch a new offensive.
Manage to maul the Italian mech corps and the UK fighter is on fire winning 6-0 not sure what was in the tea but a promising start.

In the east the rain is pouring.
Looking on the strength of German armour they must be at 44 tech already and how to deal with those beast I am not sure.
Behind the scene I try to start building Red Army 2.0 with better units but smaller size. The plan is to have 24-25 arm/mech corps and try to have a battle of Kursk on the fields between Voronezh and Kursk. Airforce is also being repaired and upgraded and is now of decent size and quality. I think air XP was at 46. But the lack of manpower around 55-60% and Infantry barely getting any replacements is not good.

The offensice continues in Egypt but that German mech unit is not easy to deal with. Also anyone with keen eyes or actually you dont really need that keen eyes to see that my rear security is very lax.

A German division land in our rear (black circle) and cuts all supply. The divison is quickly dealt with but the damage is done as my units lost a lot of effiency and the offensive is over and the 8th army has to retreat back into Egypt.
This is no critique to Nirosi or anyone else who do these things it is allowed by the rules and as has always been the case with this game what you want to secure you need to garrison. All you need is I think a unit with ZOC in the hexes with red circle and supply cant be cut on the first invasion turn.
I have done loads of similar things over the years but nowadays I must say if there is basically 0% chance to rescue the troops that are invading I dont do those invasions anymore. I care for my digital soldiers

1942 comes to an end. Here are the forces and casualties.
Noted is that losses in the Atlantic is not insignificcant 350 mm and 25 escorts was surprisingly high. I thought I dealt with the subs ok but losses still accumulated.
The German are the biggest force and of course at full xp. As I wrote before thats because some disbanding of units and in the production line there are a lot of mech units on the way so I expect the Soviets will be larger again but not by much when summer comes around.
Together with the axis minor I think the Axis is actually slightly bigger than all the Allies combined that cant be good

And Tunisia. Nothing to do here. Not sure what side is the winner of this stalemate. There are 3 allied arm units vs 2 axis so maybe it is the Axis?

So what to do in 43? Well the Soviets are easy. They will have 24 mech/arm units and a full airforce with it and a depleted infantry force who are starved on replacements trying to keep manpower over 50. With these forces the goal is to try and destroy as many Axis units as possible and the only geographical goal I have is to retake Moscow.
But what to do with the Western Allies? With most of the armies stuck in stalemates in Egypt and Tunisia I need to think of something.
Looking at Italy it looks impossible to invade. I dont have air cover and there are units everywhere. Of course most units are not that good but I have the assume the ones that are good are sitting on the right and important hexes and Axis aircover will be annoying.

France looks better. France have a lot of advantages of course. You have your airunits in the UK so at least it will be a fight in the skies. Longer front so need for more Axis units to come and defend thereby hopefully weakening the east front giving the Soviets a better chance of succesess. The disadvantage is that invading France does not knock out Italy.
I am playing another also interesting game as the Allies and these two games combined have given me a lot of insight into the game how it plays right now. I will probably make a post on the forum about it when the game are finished and my opponents can chime in if they want to add something. But in short I think the gameplay of the western allies does not really work right now and some changes should be considered at least for WP2.

Nothing happened during the winter. Here is a look at the southern Russia. Is aw a slight German buildup so to counter it I sent some mech units here.

But my main focus and greater part of my forces are concentrated in the Kursk area. looks like a pretty powerful force right?

Re: MM (Allied) vs Nirosi (Axis) Nirosi welcome
You have to press on all fronts to wear down the German manpower.
You can absorb the manpower hits but Germany can't if the pressure is constant.
Suicidal infantry basically...just attack 4 times then retreat and move up all your armor / mech...
Have not played much recently but armor on the front line was always bad for them...infantry just wear them down and the mech / armor sweep in and hammer them.

Yes inf in front and mech in the rear is the way to do,it if you have the units to do it. I find it hard to attrition German MP the Soviets dont have any MP themselves and the western allies units are so bad compared to Axis ones but it will be better now with the new Moscow rule.stjeand wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 5:50 pm You have to press on all fronts to wear down the German manpower.

Ok back to the action. In real time we are now in Feb 44 so I have some catching up to do
.
I have been bad taking some screenshots but Ill do my best.
In Egypt the British try to launch another offensive but with outcomes like these it sputters out before it even begins.

On a brighter note the Strategic bombing campaign is picking up some momentum with Ruhr area and part of Berlin out of action.
