The part about QE was accurate, but I thought it should be explained a bit so people did not say "Hey! Princess Elizabeth was not queen until 1953!"

Princess Elizabeth (Tudor) became Queen Elizabeth on 17 November 1558 and was queen until 24 March 1603 . . .

Princess Elizabeth (Windsor) became Queen Elizabeth II* on 6 February 1952 and was queen until 8 September 2022. Her mother was known as Queen Elizabeth from 11 December 1936 to 6 February 1952 when she became the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
*In Scotland, she was the first Queen Elizabeth but was still referred to Queen Elizabeth the Second.

Needless to say, it can be confusing especially when there are also ships named Queen Elizabeth and Queen Elizabeth II!

Addem (or another way to look at it).

30 Lancasters of 9 and 617 Squadrons and a 463 Squadron Lancaster with cameramen on board flew from Lossiemouth to attack the Tirpitz, which was still moored near Tromsö. The weather was clear. Tirpitz was hit by at least 2 Tallboys and then suffered a violent internal explosion. She capsized to remain bottom upwards – a total loss. Approximately 1,000 of the 1,900 men on board were killed or injured. German fighters which were stationed near by to protect the Tirpitz failed to take off in time and only 1 Lancaster, of 9 Squadron, was severely damaged, by Flak; it landed safely in Sweden with its crew unhurt.

It appears you are referring to the two Cunard Liners. But you left out the BB Queen Elizabeth, nameship of her class (Warspite being the most famous).

I was not aware of this idea previously - thanks for including that in your posting! I do think that Canada in 1940 could not possibly have raised and trained a parachute regiment. All of the trained troops were already over in England waiting for a German invasion and IIRC conscription was still not a thing (mostly because of Quebec's opposition to sending their sons to defend the British). Furthermore, Canada had only the rudiments of an aircraft industry so it could not produce transport aircraft for the paratroops. And finally, since paratroops are an offensive force and Britain was very much on the defence, it would have been hard to imagine how such a force would be used at that time.

You are correct, my friend from Big Canada Land!

That could be confusing with the BB and the xAP in the same convoy with the xAP both larger and faster than the BB!

Then there is the situation with the HMS Enterprise and the USS Enterprise . . .

My understanding is that in Canada there was a draft, in WITP:AE these squads would be represented by the militia squads while those who volunteered for overseas duty in what I presume would be considered the Regular Army and thus the updated squads.

But also a problem with the Canadian paratrooper units was a lot of the manpower was also required for their small navy which ended up being the 3rd largest in the world by the end of the war. I do believe that maybe your paternal parent informed you of some of the things that happened with those ships. ;)

Hello, these are from a different source for the history, I will include the link to the source since there are links to some of the items mentioned as well as pictures and maps. But first, a quote:

Failures in communications in the city of Changsha, Hunan Province, China led to the commencement of a scorched earth operation which was only suppose to take effect when the city was about to fall into Japanese hands. Fires were started at pre-arranged locations around the city, starting the Wenxi Fire that would burn for five days, killing 3,000 people and destroying a large number of buildings. ww2dbase [Changsha, Hunan | CPC]

13 Nov 1940

Hitler, Ribbentrop, and Molotov continued their meeting in Berlin, Germany. Hitler attempted to divert Soviet aggression out of the Balkan Peninsula and Finland, and instead focus, together with Germany, to defeat the United Kingdom, with the ultimate prize being the partition of the British Empire among Germany, the Soviet Union, Italy, and Japan. Molotov, who was not moved, asked Hitler whether Germany would feel comfortable with a Soviet guarantee of Bulgarian borders much like how Germany had recently guaranteed Romanian borders; unable to answer that question, Hitler again broke off the discussion on the excuse of potential British bombings as the hours were getting late. Indeed, having known that Molotov was visiting Berlin, the British RAF launched bombers to attack Berlin as a show of force to convince Molotov that Britain was still in the fight. Ribbentrop and Molotov continued the meeting in a underground bunker amidst the bombing where Ribbentrop failed to entice Molotov with a four-power (Germany, Italy, Japan, and Soviet Union) military alliance proposal. ww2dbase [Vyacheslav Molotov | CPC] Think of that 4 power alliance!

The aircraft from No. 10 squadron Royal Australian Air Force was on a flight from Gibraltar to Plymouth piloted by Flight Lieutenant Wynton Thorpe with a crew of 11 and five passengers. With only 15 minutes of fuel left the pilot attempted a blind landing, but with the altimeter still reading 600 feet the Sunderland ploughed into the sea. The aircraft flipped on its back, split in half and the pilot was thrown into the sea. The eleven crew were left in the sea for 90 minutes before rescue, but none of the passengers survived. The remains of this Sunderland were found spread over a wide area on the north side of the breakwater between the Fort and the lighthouse. The propeller and reduction gear was recovered in 1985 and shipped to the RAAF Museum near Perth, Australia. ww2dbase [Plymouth, England | HM]

The city centre is badly damaged, with 21 factories being destroyed and the cathedral wrecked but for its spire. The raid kills or injures 1,419 people and makes thousands homeless. A new word is created in both the English and German languages, ‘Coventrate’ and ‘Coventrieren’, meaning the physical and psychological destruction of a city.

Among its 14 principles, the Prague Manifesto guaranteed freedom of speech, press, religion, and assembly, as well as a right to self-determination of any ethnic group living in territories belonging to the Soviet Union. Known by its 4‑letter Russian abbreviation KOHP (English, KONR), the committee was chaired by Vlasov (1901–1946), a former Soviet general who commanded the Russian Liberation Army, itself abbreviated as ROA (POA in Russian). KONR tended to be viewed as the political arm of Vlasov’s ROA. While referred to as an aircraft carrier, the Akitsu Maru was one of the predecessors to the US Navy's assault ships for their US Naval Infantry. It did not have a well deck but it could carry 27 Daihatsu-class landing craft. (Think of the LB type barge.) The ship could operate 8 aircraft or carry 30 aircraft. In July of 1944 an arresting system was installed but I don't know if the ship got an enlarged brig for all of the arrests that were to be made. ;) She actually carried IJ Army aircraft! Both the Kayaba Ka-1 autogyro and the Kokusai Ki-76 which was based on the Fieseler FI 156 Storch and also carried two 60 kg (132 lb) depth charges. The Ki-76 did not even need a hook to land on the ship. I don't think that the Ki-76 is in the game as a carrier aircraft . . .
