Awesome results near Java and P/NG. Looks like those two IJA regiments that took Milne Bay will be short on supplies! Your CV aviators must be near exhausted from being in action for so many days though. You are taking a good toll on the Nells and Betties in return - nice job!

While sinking enemy shipping near PM is nice, real reason my CVs lingering there is to cover convoy bringing 5th AUS Division to Port Moresby. It should all but ensure safety of PM now.

My cruisers operating from Soerebaja almost got caught next turn...almost. 8-)

More to follow!

Hey Sardaukar ...

Thank you very much for posting this. I've been reading it non-stop all morning and enjoying it thoroughly.

I'm thinking about getting back into AE (after a diversion into Aurora 4X) and you've given me some motivation. I also did some searching and discovered the AE editor!

A few posts back you mentioned the loss of Dutch CM Rigel. That is the only CM they have that I try to keep safe. It has an upgrade due in June 1942 which is nothing special, but the next upgrade in December 1942 turns it into a precious AR. So I pull Rigel out and send her far south to await her emergence from the cocoon ...

Some comments and musings :

- this campaign is meant break the AI, not managed yet, but getting there. 8-)

- I fly my 2 engine bombers at 1000 ft, reasons are: 100 ft skip bombing came into use late 42 early 43, you get nice hits at 1000 ft, when target happens to be BB/CA, skip bombing hits hull side armour which is hard to penetrate, often just scratching paint, with 1000 ft, you get superstructure hits at least and maybe fires. Note that Low Naval Attack under 6000 ft requires Morale check, so be sure your leader has decent Inspiration.

- I play with some constant House Rules, mainly that Restricted units has to pay PP to cross out from their area and fighters use their best Maneuver band (or second best if difference is small, no strato sweeps).

- pay attention to your leaders, even those you think don't matter. Convoy leader Naval skill may prevent collisions in larger convoys. APA/AKA/AP/AK/LSI etc. are naval ships, not commercial, make sure they have decent captains.

- try not to change Chinese unit preparation targets in early game, reason: when they get to 100 prep, they start to train their exp to national limit. This is important with them, since their exp (and morale) sucks. Ditto with Burmese and some Dutch. Exposing low exp low morale units to combat may cause them to evaporate.

" Sardaukar: Note that Low Naval Attack under 6000 ft requires Morale check..."

When the game came out 5999 feet was the start of the Low Naval and Low Ground Attack realms. About 5 years later the Air model was changed. Among other things, glide bombing was eliminated and the start of the Low Naval and Low Ground Attack realms was set at 1999 feet. Unless the latest Beta changed it back, it should still be 1999 feet and below. I presume the Leader check is part of the algorithm for LowN/LowG attack, so that should also be the same as the altitude check.

Yea, you are probably right. Hard to keep up with all changes.

But anyways, 1000 ft attack, while quite accurate, needs morale check.
