As Japan, I always disliked fighting in the Burma plains....I managed to pull it off once against Jocke by concentrating a ton of AA units and having the tank divisions here but the Allies resigned prior to the ultimate test of my aggressive defense there.

Here, only need a few more days...to cut the rail lines and pocket a huge amount of IJA troopers. Well maybe not pocket unless by some miracle I can take Tuang Gyi...but at least force them into the wilderness.

Our naval clash at Akyab, which Japan won but is still generating returns for the Allies...sank one Aden class merchant for sure, heard two more sinking sounds probably PB boats or merchants previously damaged and two large convoys still need to transit thru our wolf pack....

Ramree Island is at around 160 AV...

Akyab will continue to be bombed and bombarded to keep the runways inoperable. The 9th Australian Div is entrained and will push our AV up to twice that of Japan's -- enough to hazard a deliberate attack.

Lack of proper shipping making this somewhat slow going. Will probably start using some of the smaller xAPs more forward. Boat guys are incredibly powerful.

Rossel Island provides a great air bridge to move fighter squadrons from Australia to the Rabaul area....

This is why I convert all the eligible 1750 capacity xAKLs to 500/750 capacity xAPs. Small enough to be disposable, to dock at level one ports, and when used as a herd for amphib landings, can often unload in two days. I haven't added them up in my game but I must have about 50 of them! With those numbers I can also keep a few scattered around the backfield to move support troops around or forward from there.

Torpedoed a 1vp IJN minelayer....

Never would I have thought Japan would put up a forward defense of Magwe and the plains here....they are in danger of having 200K troopers cut off from supply and in the open clear terrain no less...I guess It will take a fair bit of time to clean up but what a devastating loss it would be...all these troops could really hold the great terrain in the Rangoon/Chiang Mai line to the south.

Ramree is close to 200 AV and now is a level 1 AF...so secure.

Will break into Magwe tomorrow with tanks...and then supply will flow in. Will try and just hold Magwe and continue to envelop the IJA and try to get their only valid retreat/supply route thru Tuang Gyi (which I am also in the process of encircling.

So much here...Allied planners demanded that I include a Zoomavision (TM) graphic to show movement. ;) Hope you guys have widescreens! Otherwise cntrl+mousewheel is your friend...

I did convert them all I think....and they have been super busy...just don't enjoy sending them forward where they are subject to small ship raids...

No matter the time it takes to reduce the pocket if you trap them, bagging that many Imperials would open up things all the way into China.

Keeping them in the pocket denies your opponent any revival opportunity :D

Broke into Magwe with three armored units...will be on the rail line I think tomorrow, but with only light Humbers and it will take another day for the rest of the tanks to get there. Meanwhile, Japan does now seem to be in full retreat from the Magwe plains. Mandalay will be our tomorrow.

Big attacks in China...should open up a hex outside of Chungking tomorrow and cut a supply line for Japans offensive south out of the Chungking plains. Hopefully.

No troops evacuated from Akyab by sea this day...

Disappointing movement results in cutting off the Pegu Rail line...but still, we making solid progress. Are the Japanese railing our or marching out, or a bit of both?

Hello Lowpe,

Keep up the good work. I see red exclamation-point bases and I keep thinking "he's the Allies, why doesn't he push out more supply?" Anyway, I've seen some blunt force AARs, and I tend to play that way against the AI, so it's refreshing to see your more shoestring game style as a change of pace (I'm mostly referring to the Pacific theater).

If I could provide a bit of friendly feedback, your recent graphics are pushing readability with max zoom for a guy with a 24-inch monitor (the post on Wed Jul 06, 2022 12:53 pm and the one on Thu Jul 07, 2022 2:35 pm, specifically). Up to now it's been great. I don't mind using the zoom function.

Cheers,
CB

Getting close to cutting the IJ troopers off in the open in Magwe plains....next few days will tell the tale. If we caught the Japanese boarding trains, and unboarding trains then we have a great chance!

Building up every SPS 1 port or better....looking at invading Tulagi (no shock attack here) and moving into New Britain, would like to be past Rabaul with bases rather quickly here. Supply ships are arriving on the east coast of Australia to start running supply in here rather than come from the USA.

Bombing and bombarding Tulagi (Nauru - not pictured) daily.

I cancelled my Iboat hunting program, where I collected most SCs and DEs and formed hunter killer groups with escort carriers...and sent the SCs back to escorting convoys...normally one ASW capable ship per convoy unless it is important. The CVEs are still flying ASW and Naval Search and will continue in that role I think, off the front lines.

I try to get AKE, AE or AGs everywhere so the escorts never run out of ammo.

I still have a few hunter killer teams, and have reduced the number of ships to 2 per group. Works well...

Japan moved their slug of troops south of Mandalay and are on the road....facing about 500 AFVs but 400 AV or so. My infantry divisions to the west won't get there in time.

Magwe is down to one IJ division...

So, the Japanese will escape...but I might get control of Magwe tomorrow and the fuel should start flowing to Kunming.
