Carrier fighter squadron cant reform/reunite

So I lost a carrier and 1 squadron, divided into 3, flew to a nearby base. They have the same name except the A/B/C. They have the same aircraft but the option to reform into 1 unit isnt available some aircraft is in maintenance. Any ideas as to why?

Look for fragments, they may be on another aircraft carrier.

You are correct, didnt know you could have several A`s of a divided unit
