New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
Hey everyone,
A new public is live now. You can find it in the File Downloads section on the My Page part of the Matrix store or by downloading from this link HERE.
What is this Update About?
This update is NOT WITP: AE2. Its goal is a new final official update for WITP: AE.
For years Michael has been making code fixes/enhancements. Those were informally released on the forum as beta builds, but never fully finished or official. Likewise Andy Mac has been making improvements on the scenarios and new scenarios as well and releasing those informally. Similarly, Andrew Brown has been making corrections and improvements to the standard map. Finally, Brian has also made a new updated manual.
So, this update is about releasing that material formally as the official version of AE you would get if you bought it new from Matrix. We're aiming to have this final public beta update hopefully become official and then to remaster the store full installer to this update level.
Details of the update can be found in the readme file and the posted change list.

Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
Well, there it is at last. Thanks! A lot there to digest but that's okay.
Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
So this is a beta still, not the final patch right? I'm still in the middle of my campaign in August 1942 and I would definitely lose all progress if I update the game (unless I install it on another drive). So I guess I'll wait for the final patch to be out of beta.

As far as I know this is the final patch.Nazcatraz wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 5:10 pm So this is a beta still, not the final patch right? So the wording of "New Public Beta" does not really mean anything? This is confirmed to be the final form of the patch? From the name of it (V1.01.28), it does look so. I'm just confused about the use of "public beta" on the thread title.Platoonist wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 5:19 pmAs far as I know this is the final patch.Nazcatraz wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 5:10 pm So this is a beta still, not the final patch right? It is released to the public. If there are no issues that they want to fix, then it will be the final patch.Nazcatraz wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 5:21 pmSo the wording of "New Public Beta" does not really mean anything? Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
Does the patch work with the vanilla stock map (2009) or the extended Suez-Jamaica map (2022)?

Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
If this is really the final patch, then I will copy my current WITP folder on an SSD into another Drive (HDD) so I can keep playing my current campaign. And then update the game on my current folder on the SSD. This way I could keep playing the game on 2 different drives with both versions old and new right? Is this the way you guys do to keep playing your current save too?
Also, does the game perform differently on HDDs compared to SSDs?

Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
Just make a separate install of WITP:AE. I have four WitP:AE installs (stock, DaBabes, Bottleneck, RHS mod) on one HDD drive.
Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
Good to know I can install different versions of the game on one drive. Woooohooooo!! A big T H A N K Y O U to both Andy, Michael and everyone else who involves in making this patch final.

Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
So, if I were to create a new WITP:AE install (I don't want to end my Babes campaign yet), what would be the proper procedure for applying this update?

Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
I can't believe it is finally here! Thank you for the extensive patch notes as this will help modders and the rest of us to keep up with the changes. Thank you to the team for your long and hard work on this in your free time as volunteers. It has been a long road and it drove us a little batty and silly but the fact that this amazing game is still being updated we can all take solace and appreciation in that. Cheers to the dev team and thank you!

Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
We hope that this is the final public beta update. Based on your feedback, we'll decide if it's in good shape for an official release. If it is, we'll eventually release an official update (without further changes) and remaster the store full installer to bring it up to the same level. If we decide there's anything else we must fix before then based on public feedback, there could be another public beta before the official update.

Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
I've tried it out and there are 2 things I noticed:
When I select the December 8th scenario in the campaign selection, it says "This official WITP Campaign has been edited".
And then when I play the game and press Disband TF, it would give me 2 options YES and NO but I cannot click on either one. I have to press Esc to get out of the option UI. and I just can't disband my TF at all.

Try using the keystrokes Y or N instead.

Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
Fantastic, thank you everyone who worked on this! Something shiny and new to play with.
So what is the version install order if one were to apply this?

Re: New Public Beta - v1128 Live Now!
Well that works! Thanks. But what's the point of forcing a Y and N question to Disband TF when players can't even click it on their screens?
