Game crashes

Post by YohanTM »

Hi, so no issues when I pay on my Surface Pro4

When I play on my home system (its a good one) it keeps crashing after a turn or so. Crash files and dxdiag attached

The game cannot get the mouse information. What is your home system like? Do you use a mouse with it? Please let us know more about your hardware on your home system.

Hi, yes, standard Logitech mouse. It works with no issues including playing the game.

OK, I have an idea or two of things we can check or configure.

First, which mouse scheme, if any, are you using? One player for "Hannibal" did report a problem while using one of the Windows Aero Pointer schemes on Win 7.

You can determine this by opening the "Mouse" Control Panel and selecting the Pointers tab. Please post which mouse scheme - if any - you are using.

Secondly, you can try the following changes to your mouse options to see if it solves the problem:

Disable "Display pointer trails"
Disable "Hide pointer while typing"
Disable "Enable pointer shadow"

"Enable pointer shadow" is on the Pointers tab, I believe. The other two should be on the Pointer Options tab.

Please turn all three of them off and then run the game again. If that doesn't work, please try setting your pointer scheme to (None) - if it isn't already, that is - and see if that helps.

I'll wait to hear what your results are.

So made those changes and things were working well. Occasionally when I move my mouse off the left edge of my main screen to my secondary monitor it will crash. Not every time though - much better!

Thanks for the feedback. I am glad to hear that we are making some progress.

I'll set up a two-monitor arrangement and check out this problem myself. Naturally, I'm sorry for your trouble. I'll try to resolve this second issue as soon as I can.

Well, I didn't have any problems with multiple displays. I tested on Win 7 and Win 10, although not Win 8.

Before we dive into some arcane check, here is another thought: please try updating the driver for your mouse. Perhaps there is a (newer) Logitech driver for your model on Win 8?
