Re: Tigers on the Hunt 2 When?
Hi JamesHunt,
Wow, I'm truly honored by your comments. Never in my wildest dreams, did I ever think my game would still sell 8 years after it was published. It started as a hobby, something to do between my contracts (I'm self employed); and with time it grew to a point that I was able to publish it. This game, is the greatest thing I have ever accomplished professionally in my life. My great friend Jorgen, from Sweden; worked on it with me over the years. He provided consulting and created scenarios and campaigns for it helped with testing and I did the design and programming - it was a team effort. in May 2019 I had a stroke, I thought my life was going to end. I'm now possibly going on disability; thank the heavens that my wife was at home when it happened to me, she saved my life. I would not be here, if it wasn't for her. She called the ambulance and the rest is history. It took many years to get done because not only I had to program the game but I had to build the graphics engine, LOS, pathfinding etc...and still it's not perfect. I'm not sure what the future holds for me...I truly don't know...but you sir put a nice smile on my face today. I thank you sincerely for your comments...
Re: Tigers on the Hunt 2 When?
I am sorry to hear what you had to go through. On the other hand it is uplifting to hear that you fight through and recover through this with the help of your family.
You created probably the best tactical system on PC so far and I´ve played them all! The hundreds of custom scenarios and mods created for Tigers should qualify enough how much people value your game. We even play mutiplayer via shared screen.
I don´t even care for better graphics or user interface, just for more rules to be integrated into the engine. Even for a TOTH 1.5 I would pay any price.
I wish you best journey where ever you will go but I hope you might return to this fantastic series and send the Tigers on another Hunt!

Hi JamesHunt,
Thank you kindly for your comments, who knows what the future holds. If I will go on disability, may be I could do some further work on TotH; potentially. Though, the game is quite old at this point, so I'm not sure if there would be an interest from the publisher or the community to do some further work. I'm not who I used to be, 8 years ago, unfortunately

And people constantly asking where to get the game or report that they have bought it. Sure it will be never a system seller, it is a niche game, and after all these years many moved but with new expansions and features I am pretty sure they would love to return in numbers. Matrix/Slitherine released some of the obscurest and most niche games, I am pretty sure they willl say no to the improvement of such a gem.
Its not me to decide but one thing to consider would be also a move to Steam, perhaps with some price adaption, despite all the work that is beyond the hood. 15 year old Combat Mission games were offered there and saw an Renaissance. It is not always about the age but about the quality of games. I rather play your "old" TOTH then the countless low quality hex games thrown around here and there.
Would be great to see you back in action but in the end its of course your choice. No matter what path you go... thanks for many great wargaming hours!

Hi JamesHunt,
I'm just another Joe that has a passion for WW2 war games;) Perhaps, to start with; I can work on some bug fixes first and then let's see where that leads to

Hi JamesHunt,
I'm following your German Losses - Battle for Scheldt Campaign #1 - Tigers on the Hunt Gameplay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcJcTi4 ... sy&index=4 youtube video. Two comments:
Scenario difficulty is explained in page 7 of the game manual. Also, if you would like to know what artillery pieces both players have available in a campaign/scenario, please see the Scenario Attributes dialog.
Cheers,
Peter

Re: Tigers on the Hunt 2 When?
Hi JamesHunt,
The reason why I added Command and Control rules in the game is that; just like in real war, you not always have a full control over your own forces all the time. If you replay a scenario using command and control rules it will play differently each time.
Cheers,
Peter

I am aware of the C2 rules and the importance of it. I find such aspects very good and underpresented in most tactical games.Peter Fisla wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 5:04 pm Hi JamesHunt,

What I was talking about is that depending on scenario design and AI plans "Hard" makes the game actually easier when defending against an advancing AI, as the AI will struggle with the C2 rules. Very Hard might be worth a try in defense scenarios but I am not a fan of one-side imposed penalties/rules.
Against a defending AI, would like to play more often with C2 but it can cause even more trouble with the user made scenarios that have rush rush time limit designs.

Re: Tigers on the Hunt 2 When?
The Kursk Expansion Psel Bridgehead campaign unfortunately suffers a massive slowdown starting with Day 2 Daylight. Makes it nearly unplayable not sure what is going on. The visibility is not set too high (I think it was 12 or 16 hexes) and the same as day 1. Soviets received some armoured and infantry reinforcements but nothing huge. You have an idea what could be the culprit of this massive slowdown?

Yes, I think it's the LOS engine...also...I think the map is quite big and later on there will be more units. The game engine is kind of pushed hard in this campaign.JamesHunt wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 1:11 pm The Kursk Expansion Psel Bridgehead campaign unfortunately suffers a massive slowdown starting with Day 2 Daylight. BTW: I'm watching your Campaign Series 2.0 from John Tiller video, I love the series; especially the East Front. I just bought the whole series today, thanks to you. I have the original version from Talonsoft
Re: Tigers on the Hunt 2 When?
It´s still a good game. The devs are currently working on East Front 3.0.Peter Fisla wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 1:25 pm BTW: I'm watching your Campaign Series 2.0 from John Tiller video, I love the series; especially the East Front. Can you please add an option to allow us to capture enemy weaponary on the ground, at least simpler weapon systems like MGs and handheld AT?

I made a design decision from very early on that your side couldn't use an enemy weapons of any kind...so this is something very fundamental...sorry.
