My 3rd Annual D21 Run through

Post by larryfulkerson »

It's been entirely too long since I've done my 3rd annual D21 run through. I found the original D21 and modified it to include rail repair guys in each of the HQ units and pioneers. To see a 'what if'. Usually I start at the head of the list of units ( press 'O' ) and move them in order. Other guys have a different policy of movement...this is the one I use. Usually my first move of the game is to move OKH up to Konigsberg to be adjacent to the tired planes that need to rest or repair. I usually find a R1 HQ to be adjacent to the southmost Konigsberg airfields. I feel like I ought to replace OKH with another R1 HQ unit so that I can use OKH to repair a rail somewhere. That comes after I've moved a few times. Usually after I capture Riga.

"Your wife has Acute Angina" the doctor said to the husband. "I know, I know, but what's wrong with her." the husband asked.

Here's where I dropped the paratroops. I'm trying to blockade the roads leading to the east so only a few Soviet units will get away.

Here's an example of how much I've advanced by using RBC's only. There's a lot more movement pending, but I'd like to use the units that didn't have to move to attack. Only a single round is scheduled to be used for all the attacks so far. I'd like to use all the battle rounds that is possible during the turn.

My round 6 turn wasn't supposed to end this way. I don't remember ever getting a result like that at the beginning of the game. Hope it's not a portent of what's to come.

Here's the beginning of T2. I've gotten further forward than I expected.

It did it again!!! Just after my first combat round it did this. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong or is there some setting I need to adjust?

Here's T3 round 2 and shows me adjacent to Riga and I've captured a river crossing at Daugavpils so progress is being made.

I want to show you guys a close up view of the front lines but it looks like I'll have to do it in pieces.

Here's another piece. This didn't come out like I had planned. I should have planned better. Next time.

I'm behind schedule as I'm only just now arriving at Riga. This is what it looks like at the end of turn 3.

The view at the end of T4. I've captured Riga and other bridge crossing further south. There's still some Soviet units in the peninsula still but they aren't hanging around long.

And a little further south from Riga. I've annotated the city of Daugavpils where I captured an intact bridge over the river.
