It's now T9 round 1 and I'm in the process of taking apart the south end of the 2nd Stalin Line prior to my push to the east to clear out the Soviet backfield on my way to D-town and Z-town. It's going to take something like 10 turns or so to make that happen. But progress in this area is going well.

I do love your after action reports Larry.
Thank you very much for your kind words. I'm glad you enjoy what's going on. I report it as it happens so you guys know about it as soon as I do. I'm doing my medical marijuana every 20 minutes all day long so this game is an adventure for me. I'm having a great deal of fun.

It's still T9 round 1 and this is the area just west of Kiev right now. I've got a good surround started on several Soviet units. Elmer has been supplying more and more combatants from the Kiev area so I need to shut off the flow of troops and equipment from there before I'll be able to dispatch those I've already partially surrounded. I've already captured two crossings over the Dneper river and I'm hopeful to be able to hang onto them long enough to get some more substantial units into those hexes. I'm going to find the appropriate unit to drive north from the south edge of the MLR toward the recon unit out in the middle of nowhere by itself. The idea is to cut off a lot of Soviet units from their supply source to help facilitate the takedown and destruction of said units. I'm not exactly in a hurry but rather my policy is to save as many of my units as possible, looking forward to the strength of my units when the Soviet Winter Offensive happens.

It's now T9 round 2 and this is the area just west of Smolensk right now. I'm seeing boatloads of Soviet reinforcements arrive each turn and a lot of them are showing up at the front lines. So the Soviet front lines are a lot more substantial lately. I'm using my engineers to get on the river hexes and I'm pretty sure I can force an opening somewhere and then get into the Soviet backfield and eventually clear the crossings. The rails are repaired up to Orsha so the supply levels are good but I need the crossings to get supply to the east side of the river(s). I've managed to get a fairly good surround on the Soviet units defending Orsha and I hope to own that crossing soon. It would be ideal to stream my units to the east side of the river. Not to mention that I need the rail that leads through that hex.

It's now T9 round 5 and this is the Pskov area right now. I've just captured Pskov but the supply rails in the northernmost railline are still too far west to help the supply level very much but there is another rail in the south of this image that's further east and it IS helping the supply levels. There's so much marshy terrain along the river leading south from Pskov that I'm thinking of driving north along the road passing through Loknya and bypass a lot of the defenders along the river to be liquidated by follow on forces in some later turns.

It's now T9 round 6 and I just now cleared out the road from Orsha into the Soviet backfield. Now I have a hole 4 hexes wide through which to pass my valiant troops. I may be able to clear the crossings just south of Orsha in a few turns. I need those crossings to continue the push to the east.

It's now T11 round 2 and I just now blew a hole in the Soviet front line SE of Orsha and I'm wondering if I can use that hole to roll up the Soviet front lines by exploiting through that hole. I see Soviet units near the hole that could attempt to thwart my attempt. I may need more units than are present to do what I plan to do. I also need to establish a reserve at key spots behind the lines, on the rails, ready to deploy at a moments notice. Soviet counterattacks are increasing in intensity and I've seen several Soviet units evaporate in their attacks on my units. I don't remember ever loosing a unit so far. Luck of the Irish...except my ancestors come from Bergin, Norway.

It's now T11 round 5 and I managed to squeeze all the Kiev defenders into hexes of the city itself for the most part and the supply rails are getting closer and it's only late July. I'm going to wait until I can get some forces on the east side of the river to avoid the high losses that result from assaulting Kiev itself. Elmer has already garrisoned all the river crossings so I'll need to guard them all. I may be able to get some engineers on the river hexes to squirt some units across the river to help capture the crossings.

It's now T12 round 1 and this is what it looks like near Leningrad right now. I'm working on grabbing the crossings over the rivers. There are troops just offmap to the south that are working their way northward to grab all the crossings I don't own yet. Elmer is railing more and more troops up here so I expect Soviet resistance to increase as time passes. I've sunk one of the Soviet naval units leaving just one more to go.

It's now T12 round 2 and this is what it looks like near Smolensk right now. I've managed to push into Soviet terrain on the east side of the river and now I'm fighting to clear out the crossings while also pushing east. I have 33K HRS's assigned, 1K HRS's on hand, 10.6K HRS's have been lost, and I'm building 428 HRS's each turn. I've got 10.8K trucks assigned, 3.8K trucks on hand, 609 trucks have been lost so far, and I'm building 35 trucks each turn. And as for Me-109's: I have 948 assigned, 181 on hand, 51 have been lost, and I'm building 18 of them each turn. Progress has been good in this area.

It's still T12 round 2 and this is what it looks like southeast of Kiev right now. I'm pushing to the SE and my goal in this area is to uncover all the Soviet units defending in this AO and destroy them. I want to prevent Soviet units from moving west through the crossings by leaving a few units at each crossing to prevent passage. As soon as I arrive at D-town in the next several turns, I'm going to see if I can't use my engineers to leap the river and push NE for Kharkov.

It's still T12 round 2 and this is what it looks like around Kiev right now. I thought I'd do a larger area of the Kiev area to get a better idea of what's going on near there. Just south of Gomel you may find two different embarked stacks on the rails. That's me railing divisions from the Kiev area to this AO so they can help spread out and help form a front line so I can push toward the river passing just south of Mena. I have a lot of my smaller units on the west side of the push that I need to support better. They are overdue to be overrun by arriving Soviet units from the east.

It's still T12 round 2 and this is what it looks like around Odessa right now. I've managed to start my surround on the port of Odessa. It's missing my troops on the west side yet to be fully surrounded. The Romanians have cleared out the entire Bessarabia area and are now headed for the Crimea. I've already moved the RR arty down here to help with the takedown of Odessa but they aren't in range yet.

It's now T12 round 4 and this is what it looks like near Leningrad right now. The Finns are pushing strongly to the south and the fighting is fierce and losses are high on both sides so far. The last Soviet naval unit has 1 damaged CA and 8 DD's and I've been pounding it off and on with my Stuka's. They have an anti-ship value of 120 making it the best aircraft I have for going after ships.

It's still T12 round 4 and this is the Smolensk area right now. I've reached the city itself but it has a strong stack of Soviet units in it now and besides, I haven't gotten it properly surrounded yet. The supply level gets down to 5 on the east side of Smolensk but about 12 everywhere else. A lot of rails leading this way are getting repaired so I expect the supply levels to rise slowly.

It's now T14 round 2 and this is what it looks like in the Leningrad area right now. The Finns have made some progress in their push south and I'm trying to cut off some Soviet units east of Narva and I have reason to believe that I can do that. Further south I'm pushing for the Lovat river over which I've already captured two crossings with only a few more to have all of them. Further south I'm in the process of surrounding a smallish group of Soviet defenders just before I destroy them. Further south I've finally captured Smolensk.

It's now T14 round 4 and here's a view of the Kiev area right now. I used the RR arty to help in the takedown of the city and I've squeezed the Kiev defenders into a small group but I'm thinking that I'm going to need some Axis pressure from the east side to finally defeat them. I have units pushing south from just north of Kiev and I'm fairly confident that I'll have some pressure to apply from the east within about 5 turns or so.

It's still T14 round 4 and here's a view of the Bryansk area right now. I'm slowly working my way eastward surrounding Soviet units and destroying them a few at a time. They are coming at me a few at a time which makes it easier to take them down fast enough to kill them and push eastward at the same time. I've managed to repair the rails almost all the way to the front lines so the supply levels are good. There are plenty of gaps in my lines in this area but so far Elmer hasn't been taking advantage of them.
