Password won't open turn

Post by Jeremy Mac Donald »

So Brocolini and myself tried to start a new game of Fall Grau. I sent him a turn he sent one back and for some reason my password would not open the turn. I just click the password 3 times and it boots me out for constant failure.

Well that is very odd... maybe I somehow screwed up entering my password? So we do it again from the top... the same thing. My password won't open the returned turn.

Now thoroughly perplexed I take the turn I sent to Brocolini and send it to Ben asking him to open it up and randomly move some units around and send this back to me as a test. So Ben does that and destroys some bridges just for good measure and sends the turn back - this time I have no problem at all opening the turn.

Brocolini and I compared our player settings - I was thinking maybe there was a conflict there but our settings appear identical.

Anyone have any clue what might be going on here?

Any chance Brocolini sent you his turn file - instead of yours - by mistake?

Once would be conceivable but twice? Does not seem at all likely. Also he gave me his password and that does not work.

Next up: Bitrot: Were the files zipped before sending?

Also: Any ambigous characters in the password (0 for O; l for 1, etc).

Not Zipped but the turn was called something like (A1). Maybe that can be an issue?

Amazing
The brackets appear to be the problem. Once the turn was sent without them the turn worked.

Of note you don't appear to be able to fix this on your end. I did try renaming the file that was sent to me to something without brackets and that did not work.

Apparently special characters are not allowed?

If duct tape doesn't fix it then you are not using enough duct tape.

Since I realized you don't have to zip files to upload them onto discord, I play pbem with friends on discord now. Just in case you wanted to know.
