Ukraine on fire 2022
Ukraine on fire 2022
This scenario simulates the Russian invasion of Ukraine from February 24, 2022 to August 2023.
I have considered, within the limits of the information, the possible balance of forces, the units involved or being established and events.
You are free to comment and possibly modify the scenario as you wish.
I hope I did a good job and you enjoy it.
Naval units of the Admiral Grigorovich, Bykov, Buyan class and Improved Kilo class submarines can launch Kalibr cruise missiles with a range of 1500 km.
The aforementioned units have been modified in the equipment database to simulate these offensive capabilities.
The Russian units, initially, are all deployed in BTG's, which have proved to be pliable but too fragile and light for the type of warfare in Ukraine.
From the end of September onwards they redeployed several units by grouping them at divisional level to have greater integration, coordination, firepower and to better absorb losses.
For this purpose many Russian regiment-level BTG's units are withdrawn and subsequently regrouped into their original divisions.
Units with a roman numeral before the identifier are BTG's.

This looks very good and the map isn't huge which is a plus for me.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Ukraine on fire 2022
Hello everyone,
This a great work. The only problem I see: the exclusion zone around Chornobyl is way too big. A Russian player MUST go west to avoid spending numerous turn on this "radioactive" area. IRL, there is no issue rolling down through Chornobyl: digging trenches and stuff is dangerous but there's no problem driving along the road. The exclusion zone should reflect this

Thanks for your note, I have another test version where introduce variables and your reports to improve the scenario.

Awesome! Thank you!
Ukraine on fire 2022 ver 1.1
Ukraine on fire 2022 ver 1.1 improvements have been made in particular for Ukrainian units ASM Neptune and Harpoon original icon of Msl Art have been changed with Air Naval Attack icons (see attachments) this is because in the original, the units despite having weapons with range wide action hit Russian ships only if they were one hex away.
By changing the icon the problem is solved.
In addition, Russian VDV units have retained the dual airlift and parachute capability by inserting dual icons for each unit while Ukrainian Air Assault and Airmobile units, except 25th Parachute Brigade, are transformed into Light Motorized Brigades as they were effectively deployed under Ukrainian doctrine remaining nominally airborne only (see https://www.battleorder.org/post/vdv-video https://www.battleorder.org/post/ukraine-tanks https://www.battleorder.org/post/ukrmech) .
Russian units of the National Guard (Rosgvardia) have been introduced with the task of Military Police and Security on Russian territory.

Ukraine on fire 2022
This version (2.0) includes a change in the Ukrainian order of battle, depending on the latest updates (March 2023), new units created, new equipment and the planned spring/summer offensive.
The Russian naval units of the Black Sea Fleet have been replaced into single units and no longer into task forces except TF Moskva composed of the unit of the same name and a Krivak II class FFG unit.

Re: Ukraine on fire 2022
The updated scenario seems to be loading an older version. I loaded v.2.0 in the editor and saved as Ukraine on fire 2022 v.2.0. TOAW now loads the updated version. Looks like the scenario name/version was changed in the scenario folder but not saved in the editor.JB007 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 08, 2023 3:51 pm This version (2.0) includes a change in the Ukrainian order of battle, depending on the latest updates (March 2023), new units created, new equipment and the planned spring/summer offensive.

In the end everything is correct as it was in my intentions.
Thanks for the report, regards.

Re: Ukraine on fire 2022
Not a problem, happens frequently and is easy to correct.
Unless a person is familiar with the changes, the problem is not all that obvious. The only reason I knew something was amiss was that stock graphics were being loaded instead of my custom graphics. After the editor save, all is good.
Best Regards, RhinoBones
PS - Excellent scenario.

@JB007
Are you going to update the scenario with the leaked information?

Hello, the information from the documents disclosed was partly used and integrated with what was already happening in the Ukrainian order of battle and with the deliveries of western materials, however the news that reaches us every day makes the situation very fluid and in constant change.GeneralVikus wrote: ↑Sun Apr 09, 2023 9:20 pm @JB007

One can only make an estimate of what will be used and how it will be used.

Re: Ukraine on fire 2022
I was referring mainly to the dispositions of the units as of 01 March as displayed on the attached slides. Do you want to make a scenario accurate to 01 March with this information? I ask because I would like to do so myself, but have no experience with the editor. If information on the numbers and positions of units was already available to a similar degree of accuracy before the leak, it's news to me.JB007 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 8:50 am Hello, the information from the documents disclosed was partly used and integrated with what was already happening in the Ukrainian order of battle and with the deliveries of western materials, however the news that reaches us every day makes the situation very fluid and in constant change.

Re: Ukraine on fire 2022
Hello, there are several sites with maps to check and cross-reference data on the units and their location.GeneralVikus wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 9:41 amI was referring mainly to the dispositions of the units as of 01 March as displayed on the attached slides. This for example:https://geo.parabellumthinktank.com/ind ... ct_updates
or this Ukrainian:https://militaryland.net/
Obviously the reliability of all sites is not known but we have fun with simulation within the most truthful limits.
To know truth about units, deployment etc. 100%, we will have to wait for the end of the conflict.

Re: Ukraine on fire 2022
Perhaps not even then. How long did it take to get the most reliable information from the Russians regarding WW2?

Hi JB007
Great scenario.
Thanks for the hard work.
A question: I note one of the Ukraine Assault Squads has a Motorcycle icon, and two have the generic blob icon. A typo?
Cheers

Re: Ukraine on fire 2022
If you have correctly loaded the .nqp, .col, .eqp files in the graphics override folder, there shouldn't be any problems, however I'll attach them again.
