Near Stalingrad a newly upgraded level 3 panzerkorps was destroyed as they approached the Soviet fortifications. New Luftwaffe level 2 fighters appeared in the area quickly taking control of the skies.
The Axis troops are pushing hard to enter the Caucasus from all sides: Turkey, Iran, Krasnodar and Rostov… Soviet morale is at 76%, Germany at 104%. The USSR have 48 land units vs 83 German.

China is about to collapse with only 3 units left. The Indians bypassing Wanting entered Kunming without opposition and this event made possible the arrival of General Stilwell at the last possible moment! a free HQ for the USA [8D]

Near Orel our forces destroyed the isolated Hungarian Army but retired towards Moscow when 2 Tiger Tanks arrived in the area. Our defending forces look pitiful.

Disaster in the Caucasus: the Soviet supply system was dismantled . In coordinated action, the German AT (mot) cut the railway between Stalingrad and Grozny while the veteran panzerkorps cut the railway between Baku and Tbilisi. All our forces finished the turn in very low supply 2-3.
Our weakened troops managed to cut the supply of the AT (mot), an Infantry corps and the panzerkorps but the end of our forces in the Caucasus in written on the wall

In the Mediterranean Jerusalem and Suez were liberated by weak British troops. At last the Allies are counterattacking! Athens is spotted not defended… Crete, by an unknown event, reverted back to the Axis a few turns ago when I left the island unoccupied [&:]

September 25 - October 9 1942
There was a last minute change of plans when we discovered that Athens was not defended. A US Army that was initially earmarked to capture Adana was instead instructed to capture the Greek Capital. This will have serious consequences in the next turns. We planned for a quick occupation of Iraq and Eastern Turkey, menacing the Axis forces in the Soviet border from behind.

Athens was captured by the 1st US Army but the port of Athens remained for unknown reasons in Axis hands. Istanbul was also not defended and was occupied by the 2nd US Army, opening the Dardanelles Straits and allowing the 2 Soviet CLs to escape certain destruction in the Black Sea. Turkey was now isolated from the rest of Europe and could not be easily reinforced.
Syria was invaded by General Bradley and the 3rd US Army, Damascus captured but surprisingly the Vichy French did not surrender and moved their Capital to Aleppo. This unforeseen minor setback will also hinder greatly our well laid plans… British troops approached Cairo.

In the far north the last German naval forces were destroyed, 3 U-Boote and the BB Tirpitz.

Both, the evacuated towns of Bryansk and Velikiye Luki were captured. Our forces retreated towards Moscow leaving behind a couple of infantry corps defending Smolensk. Only the arrival of reinforcements and winter weather could save Moscow from falling in the next turns.

October 23 - November 6 1942
The Axis reacted quickly to our Mediterranean expeditions. A couple of infantry corps appeared near Istanbul and a Turkish Army was operated to Tripoli, blocking Beirut port and slowing our progress north into Turkey. But worse still: the Liberation of Greece by the US troops did not turn the whole country into an Allied territory as I was expecting. All the ports and cities in Greece remained Axis controlled and the 1st US Army ended the turn out of supply surrounded by an angry mob of Italians! I made a mistake with the 1st US Army not leaving it in Athens after landing [:@]

The flow of reinforcements for the Middle East is constant. General Mc Arthur sailed directly from Australia via Suez (only later knowing that it was almost intercepted by the Japanese fleet). From England General Lord Gott disembarked in Suez along 2 British Armies and some Canadian tanks. New US Strategic Bombers level 4 were based in Cyprus. US marines disembarked in Istanbul to reinforce the 2nd US Army holding the important city and the passage to the Balck Sea. Amman and Cairo were liberated.

US marines captured The Hague and Amsterdam, liberating the Netherlands. US marines landed in Hamburg, isolating Denmark from Germany. We think that the Axis garrisons of this cities were directed to the Mediterranean earlier this turn.

Voronezh was isolated from the rest of the country. Soviet troops in the Caucasus were squeezed into a narrow band of land around Grozny. The Soviets have 41 land units vs 88 German.

November 16 - December 4 1942
Clear skies and sunny weather in the whole USSR for the Germans! [X(] After holding for a year the Soviets abandoned Narva in the Baltic States.

The Germans hit hard our units defending the Moscow approaches with multiple air attacks combined with Tigers. Severe damage to several units.
At last some reinforcements arrived including 2 Heavy tanks units. General Zhukov was recalled and set his HQ at Gorky taking overall command.

Stalingrad is under siege and enemy panzers approached Saratov. Some good news: General Timoshenko was evacuated at the last moment from Baku and reached safety disembarking at Krasnovodsk, on the other side of the Caspian Sea. The USSR has only 36 land units left…

A British corps captured Konigsberg in the rear of the German front. Some Allied Naval units entered the Baltic Sea, where only 1 U-Boot remains in active service.

The Canadian tanks captured Aleppo and Syria finally surrendered next turn, but Tripoli is still defended by the Turks. Some additional Allied air units arrived to the Middle East. The British AT advanced cautiously towards Baghdad. German tac bombers retired towards the Caucasus.

In the Red Sea the Japanese CA Tone intercepted one of our DDs. Also operating is this area was our old friend U-32. As we had 2 US CVs refitting in Alexandria we blocked the passage towards Suez with another couple of expendable DDs and moved back the fleet near Cyprus. We didn't want Japanese CVs hammering our CVs in port, we had enough with one Pearl Harbor.

December 18 - January 1 1943
A new year begins.
In Europe 4 panzerkorps are attacking our beachheads, at least they are not fighting in the USSR. The Hague and Amsterdam were lost, Hamburg and Konigsberg hold for the time being…

The Germans assaulted and destroyed one of the fortifications outside Moscow, the ring is closing around the Capital. A panzerkorps approached Saratov and Stalingrad is still in our hands but not for much longer…

Japanese naval forces disembark in Egypt coming from the Red Sea! 2 SNLFs attack Cairo but they loose an Army near the Suez Canal. At least 2 BBs, 3 CVs, 3 subs and other supporting ships are present. They sunk the 3 Allied picket DDs.
Another Japanese SNLF unit disembarked are captured El Aden, a bright move, as the Japanese now have an operational port in the area to resupply and refit from.
The Turks are still holding Tripoli and Beirut port in Syria, while more Turks were rebased to Adana and Diyarbakir. The US loses the 1st and 2nd Armies in Greece and Istambul.
